SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A man was stabbed to death in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter early Wednesday morning, and police say one person was detained in connection with the incident.At around 2:30 a.m., San Diego police responded to reports of a stabbing in the 400 block of Fifth Avenue, near J Street.When officers arrived, they saw a man in his 40s with a stab wound on his chest lying on the ground with a woman trying to keep pressure on the injury.The victim was rushed to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.After the victim gave police a description of the attacker, officers spotted and then apprehended a man believed to be linked to the stabbing.ABC 10News learned the man was detained for questioning.SDPD Lt. Andra Brown said the incident is under investigation, but it appeared the stabbing took place following an exchange of words between the victim and his friends and another group of people. 940

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man who groped and sexually assaulted four female students as they walked to their off-campus housing near SDSU pleaded guilty Monday.Minda Shewangizaw, 20, pleaded guilty to charges including felony and misdemeanor counts of false imprisonment and sexual battery.All four victims in the case, who ranged in age from 17 to 19, testified during the preliminary hearing.One of the victims said she and her roommate were walking home after midnight when Shewangizaw came up behind her and “grabbed her butt.RELATED: Women testify against UC Riverside student accused of groping near San Diego State”Her roommate said she noticed someone walking behind them before he began to chase them. "I said, You need to leave. He grabbed my hand and pulled me toward him. He pulled my shirt down and grabbed my breast."She said she kicked Shewangizaw and was able to break free.Another victim testified that she and another woman were on a pedestrian bridge heading back to their dorm when she heard footsteps and was smacked on her “behind” by Schewangizaw."I was livid. I said, What are you doing? Don't do that! He laughed it off."She said she kept walking when the defendant made a remark about her breasts before pulling her shirt down and putting his hands on her chest.A witness said Shewangizaw then grabbed her breast and buttocks and trapped her against a rail before laughing and walking away.The sentencing is scheduled for June 12. 1460

The outage started about 3:30 p.m. and impacted Hepner Hall, East Commons, Administration, Physical Sciences and the Faculty Staff Club, SDSU reported online. An hour later, campus officials said the outage was caused by flooding the basement of the Physical Sciences building.By 5:17 p.m., power had been restored to Hepner Hall, East Commons, Adams Humanities, Administration and the Faculty Staff Club buildings. Crews were still working to restore power to the Physical Sciences building.“Facilities Services is aware of the issue and actively working to restore power,” the university posted. “If you are in or around the impacted buildings, please remain where you are, and in a safe location,” officials requested. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man was arrested Tuesday night following a chase that injured one woman.According to San Diego Police, officers noticed that the man’s headlights were out and tried to pull him over near Nimitz Boulevard and Rosecrans Street around 8:22 p.m.The man then reportedly took off, striking two cars along the way. The pursuit then led officers onto Interstate 5 where the suspect struck the back of an SUV, injuring a woman inside.Officers were able to take the man into custody after he tried to cross I-5 and run down a steep embankment.The severity of the woman’s injuries are unclear. 612
