These risks, however, are generally significantly lower for those dining outside.Last month in an interview with MSNBC, Dr. Anthony Fauci pointed toward restaurants being among riskiest places to visit amid the pandemic. Fauci added that bars and gyms also are considered risky in his view.“When you have restaurants indoors in a situation where you have a high degree of infection in the community [and] you're not wearing masks, that's a problem,” Dr. Fauci said.Fauci pointed toward a September 2020 CDC study that found those who visited restaurants in the previous two weeks were two times more likely to test positive for the coronavirus than those who said they had not been inside a restaurant.“Reports of exposures in restaurants have been linked to air circulation,” the CDC said. “Direction, ventilation, and intensity of airflow might affect virus transmission, even if social distancing measures and mask use are implemented according to current guidance. Masks cannot be effectively worn while eating and drinking, whereas shopping and numerous other indoor activities do not preclude mask use.”Economic impact to restaurantsWith many restaurants forced to close indoor operations during the spring, and scale back indoor capacity during the summer, millions were out of work. According to the National Restaurant Association, 8 million restaurant workers, representing nearly half of the industry, were without jobs during the height of the pandemic. There remained over 2 million out-of-work restaurant employees as of the start of October.As of Wednesday, 100,000 restaurants have either closed for good, or for a significant period of time. (AP) — A man serving a life sentence in the death of his estranged wife led authorities to where he buried her body in Michigan eight years ago in exchange for an Xbox, according to authorities.Doug Stewart, 29, will also be allowed to participate in some prison programs, the Sturgis Journal reported.On Monday, he took detectives to a wooded area in Kalamazoo County where he had buried Venus Stewart, 32. He'd left two stumps at the site as a landmark."I knew I couldn't forget where she was," he told WWMT-TV.Doug Stewart was living in Virginia when his estranged wife disappeared in April 2010 from her parents' home in Michigan. Venus Stewart had moved after accusing her husband of domestic violence and molesting their daughter, according to police reports.Doug Stewart was convicted of first-degree murder in 2011, based largely on the testimony of Ricky Spencer. Spencer told authorities that he had been persuaded to impersonate Doug Stewart while the man drove to Michigan.Authorities have been visiting with Stewart annually since his sentencing to try and get information about the body's location."The criminal portion has been closed. We just kept at it to help find closure for Venus' family," said Michigan State Police Detective Sgt. Todd Peterson.Stewart had long maintained that he hadn't been involved in the killing, but said things changed when his sister began to reconcile with his wife's family. GRAND BLANC, Mich. - A 17-year-old is in trouble with Michigan State Police and, most likely, his parents after being clocked doing 138 miles an hour on I-75 in near Grand Blanc.The incident happened at around 8:45 p.m. on November 23.Troopers clocked the 2012 Chevy as it was in the left lane of Northbound I-75. Troopers say the driver tried to "duck off" onto E Holly Road but was caught by the trooper.According to MSP, the driver said he was "traveling so fast and passing other cars and sucking in and out of lanes" because he was late for his 9:30 curfew.MSP says the trooper "gave the kid a break" on a reckless driving charged, but did give him a ticket for going 138 mph in a 70 mph zone and "the SMH award."His ticket carries an unknown fine and four points. 777

Heavy rain caused a central Texas river to rise to a near-record level in about a day, leading to a bridge collapse, flooded homes and evacuations.The Llano River rose to nearly 40 feet Tuesday in the city of Llano -- about 35 feet higher than it was just 24 hours earlier before -- thanks to 8 to 10 inches of rain that fell in the area over the past two days, the National Weather Service said.A few miles away, in Kingsland, the swollen river rushed against the top of the RM 2900 bridge for hours, eventually causing it to collapse, video from CNN affiliate KEYE showed.
