K-pop star Sulli, formerly of the band f(x), has been found dead at her home. The 25-year-old singer and actress was found dead by her manager on Monday afternoon local time, police told CNN."So far, it seems she killed herself, but we will leave all possibilities open and investigate," a police official said.Sulli's manager spoke to her on Sunday evening and went to check on her when he was unable to reach her on Monday. The singer, whose real name is Choi Jin-ri, was found on the second floor of her house in Sujeong-gu, Seongnam, south of the capital city, Seoul.Police said they found a note at the scene but have yet to analyze its content. Investigations are ongoing.Sulli was a child actor before making her singing debut with the girl group f(x) in 2009.She left the group in 2015 to concentrate on acting before returning to the music scene as a solo artist, releasing a single, "Goblin," in June 2019.Sulli also appeared on a TV show in which K-pop stars talked about receiving negative online comments, Reuters reports.Korean pop music -- or K-pop -- is one of the country's biggest exports in the past decade. Many of its stars -- known as idols -- train for years, honing their singing, dancing and acting skills, while also learning other Asian languages, before they are even allowed to debut their first song.Stars of the genre are subject to intense pressure, which has been linked to a mental health crisis in the industry.K-pop megastar 1470
JACKSON, Miss. — A federal appeals court is keeping a block on a Mississippi law that would ban most abortions as early as six weeks — when many women may not even know they are pregnant. A panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals made the decision Thursday. The appeals judges agreed with a district court judge who blocked the six-week ban from taking effect in 2019. The only abortion clinic in Mississippi sued the state soon after the law was signed by then-Gov. Phil Bryant. In December, the same appeals court kept a block on a separate Mississippi law to ban most abortions at 15 weeks. The decision comes as states with conservative-majority legislature race to place limits on abortions in the hopes that the Supreme Court with a newly-conservative majority will uphold the new laws.According to 823
KANSAS CITY — While cities like New York have cracked down on CBD in food and drinks, that is not case everywhere. But how much of it people consume is important and could have an impact on whether or not they land their next job."That's honestly the number one question we get asked is 'will I fail a drug test?' It's that feeling of leaving of money on the table. Like many of us, Donna Rosato, senior editor of the money team for Consumer Reports, has experienced it before.“I never even wore it. I knew right off the bat it was the wrong size but it took me too long to get the store, I was really upset,” Rosato said.To better educate consumers on different store’s return policies, 386
It's mid-May, but winter apparently is not finished with parts of the Northeast, which could see yet more snow this week.Cold air coming in from Canada is likely to cause a mix of snow and rain in higher elevations of New Hampshire, Vermont and much of northern Maine by early Tuesday, CNN meteorologist Gene Norman said."It wouldn't be surprising to see flakes flying in places like Montpelier (Vermont) and Portland, Maine," Norman said, adding that if there is measurable snowfall in Portland, it would be the latest in the year that the white stuff has fallen since May 11, 1945.That's after a miserable Mother's Day of of sleet and snow in parts of western Massachusetts. That was produced in part by the same low-pressure system that triggered flooding rains and some severe storms through the Southeast.Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant on Sunday issued a state of emergency following the strong storms and flooding that started Wednesday, with multiple counties reporting major flooding. Damage possibly caused by tornadoes was reported in two counties, the governor's office said in a press release.Southern Texas was 1134
