(KGTV) -- The new school year begins Monday morning for the Sweetwater Union High School District, and classes will be very different this time around for students and teachers due to the coronavirus pandemic.Starting Monday, Aug. 3, classes will be taught online, with all students equipped with district-issued computers, laptops or tablets to connect with teachers.SUHSD students will be on a daily block schedule that puts them in three classes per day with 30-45 minutes of virtual face time with teachers. Students’ remaining time will be independent study to complete coursework.District officials said the 2020-21 school year will begin with distance learning through at least Oct. 2. According to the district, the goal is to provide flexibility to begin the school year so adjustments can be made along the way.During the school year, the district plans to evaluate the possibility of a return to in-class instruction on three dates:-- Sept. 21: District will assess whether distance learning will continue after fall break.-- Nov. 30: District will assess whether distance learning will continue into second semester or potentially bring 10% of students back to schools.-- March 1: District will assess whether distance learning will continue through the end of the school year.If in-class instruction is allowed, all schools will have safety protocols in place that will be monitored. 1404

(KGTV) -- Margaret Wardlow doesn’t dwell on what happened to her one night in 1977 - a night that she became victim number 27 of the Golden State Killer. Just because she doesn’t dwell on it, doesn’t mean she doesn’t remember. Wardlow was the youngest of the serial man's victims, just 13 when she was tied up in her Sacramento home and raped.On Wednesday Joseph James DeAngelo, 72, was arrested in connection with a series of killings, rapes and burglaries that occurred around the state in the 1970s and ‘80s. Authorities from jurisdictions across California gathered in Sacramento to announce the arrest of a suspect in the decades-long East Area Rapist/Golden State Killer case.RELATED: Suspect identified, arrested in East Area Rapist/Golden State Killer caseIt's an arrest that brought back the memories of that night for Wardlow. She says at first, she had no idea her attacker was the Golden State Killer - aka the east area rapist, aka the original night stalker in her home. It wasn't until she looked up at the clock and saw it was 2:30 a.m. that she realized who he was.  "'This is the east area rapist, and this is what’s going on,'" she recalls thinking. "It was time for me to realize, ‘I’m dealing with a serial rapist.'”The man also tied up her mom, stacking plates on top of her so he would know if she moved.What he didn't know about Wardlow is that before her attack, she was on top of every story that came out in the newspaper about him. Knowing that he seemed to thrive on powerless victims, when he asked in a harsh whisper, ‘Do you want to die? A 12-year old Brooklyn girl is uplifting audiences and making history as one of the youngest composers for the New York Philharmonic.Grace Moore is a seventh-grade student at Poly Prep in Dyker Heights. She’s also soaring to new heights with her passion for classical music.Moore describes herself as quiet and shy, but when it comes to her music, she is powerful. In October, Moore had a world premiere of a piece she created for the NY Philharmonic. It was the music she composed.Moore is a participant of the New York Philharmonic’s Very Young Composers program— a program that teaches people as young as eight to create music, they have the some of best musicians in the world perform it.Moore’s talent is extraordinary.Her love of music started at the age of two when her mom bought her a piano.
