SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The family of a missing Arizona grandmother believes that she may be heading to San Diego.On Monday, ABC10 News spoke to Aaron Richardson about his grandmother, Alice Fults, who was last seen on Friday morning in Chandler, Arizona. "You'd never think this would happen to you and for it to happen and [to] somebody you know totally tears you apart," he told ABC10 News.On Monday afternoon, Chandler Police confirmed that the 58-year-old stroke survivor and dementia patient got on a Greyhound bus on Friday morning that was bound for Los Angeles.Her family says that she could be trying to get to San Diego which is where she grew up and where her sister still lives. "She's from Lakeside so she always talked about Lakeside, California and how she wanted to go back to Lakeside," said Richardson.Fults has hearts with names tattooed on her legs and horseshoes tattooed on her arms. She has a drooping eyelid from her stroke and needs her seizure medication. Her family told ABC10 News that she left with her granddaughter's ID but not her own ID. She doesn't have a cell phone. Family added that she has a history of wandering off but never for more than a few hours."If you see this, Alice...I love you, grandma. Get some help, okay? Let us know you're okay," Richardson added.Chandler Police have issued a silver alert and are working on notifying law enforcement in Southern California about her disappearance. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Gaslamp Quarter Association has plans to turn a section of Fifth Avenue into a pedestrian friendly promenade. The section affected would be from Broadway down to L Street, where the Convention Center is located. The change could help during big events like the week of Comic-Con and holidays like Halloween. “It’s kinda mayhem,” says Michael Carbone, director of the Chuck Jones Gallery. “As far as trying to get from one block to the other, it could take you 15 minutes.” Carbone says while he loves the crowds during Comic Con, the rent is so high downtown, his gallery is moving to Little Italy.Some suggestions under consideration, according to the GQA: putting in street furniture, plants, local art sculptures or murals and entertainment venues. “Well, the safety factor is you can just stroll, you don't need to look out for cars, and we don't allow bicycles either,” said Sue Meek, a tourist from Scotland who says similar areas function well back home. The Gaslamp Promenade project could allow certain hours for vehicle traffic, such as 3 a.m. - 11 a.m. The projected cost is currently million. The association says they have a plan to use grant money and fundraise to make the project happen. “I think this is something that will take us to the next step and for many years in the future to help drive tourism, drive economic impact to businesses and the city. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The Federal Reserve's decision to lower its key interest rate to near zero will help some San Diegans, but frustrate others.The Fed reduced its Federal Funds Rate to near zero for the first time since the Great Recession of 2008. The move, in reponse to the Coronavirus outbreak, will help keep auto loan rates low and mortgage rates near historic lows. It will also, however, lower earnings from interest bearing savings accounts. Greg McBride, chief financial analyst for Bankrate, predicted the economy to go into a recession, but said the low borrowing rates would help jump start spending once activity picks up again. "Coming out of that, one of the things that's going to give the economy a boost to recover from that will be these brutally low interest rates that entice consumers and businesses to resume borrowing and spending," McBride said. "Somebody concerned about losing their job is not going to go to go out and buy a car."Mortgage rates are already extremely low, with the average rate for a 30-year fixed is 3.36 percent. Still, that's above the all-time lows reached earlier this month, when the Federal Reserve made its first emergency cut. Mark Goldman, a loan officer for C2 Financial Corp., said there has been a rush to refinance since that earlier drop — a big reason why rates did not fall deeper."There's so much refinancing business going on right now that lenders can't stand a lot more business, so they price accordingly," Goldman said. Still, those mortgages rates will remain low as San Diego County enters what's typically its peak home buying season. 1613

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Teenage cancer survivors from Rady Chidlren's Hospital celebrated an "unforgettable" event.The annual Unforgettable Prom brought teens battling cancer out for a night of dancing and celebration — a night many of the teens miss at school while they continue to fight illness. Now in its 13th year, the dance has helped teens take a moment to celebrate that special night in every teenager's life. And everything is covered: From dresses and tuxedos to entertainment, food, and decor, thanks to volunteers and the Friends of Scott Foundation, a local non-profit that works to provide emotional and financial support for children with cancer and their families.This year's theme, Avengers "Age of Heroes," honors Ryan Wilcox, a former patient and Unforgettable Prom King, who lost hist battle with cancer. "Unforgettable Prom" was started by Carmen Delgadillo, founder of the Friends of Scott Foundation. Degadillo lost her teenage son, Scott, to Acute Lymphostic Leukemia. From that loss, Delgadillo started the foundation to help other families in need of support during their own battles with cancer.
