The agency stresses “no single strategy can control the pandemic,” and all of these recommendations will be needed to break transmission chains.The CDC warns that indoor spaces and crowded outdoor spaces, especially where distancing is not maintained or consistent use of face masks is not possible, i.e. like when eating or drinking, “have been identified as particularly high-risk scenarios.”“Compelling evidence now supports the benefits of cloth face masks for both source control (to protect others) and, to a lesser extent, protection of the wearer,” the CDC guidelines now read. “Face mask use is most important in indoor spaces and outdoors when physical distance of ≥6 feet cannot be maintained. Within households, face masks should be used when a member of the household is infected or has had recent potential COVID-19 exposure.”Any indoor spaces should also have good ventilation, the CDC says. "For indoor settings, increased room air ventilation can decrease the concentration of small droplets and particles carrying infectious virus suspended in the air and, thereby, presumably decrease the risk for transmission."The World Health Organization recently updated their guidelines that everyone 12 and older should wear a mask outside, inside and even inside people’s own homes if they are poorly ventilated. They recommended that children ages 6-to-11 should wear a mask based on a “risk-based approach.”Earlier this week, the CDC said they recommend against traveling this holiday season to slow the spread of the coronavirus. The Food and Drug Administration has approved remdesivir as a treatment for the coronavirus.The move comes less than a week after the World Health Organization published results of a large study that suggested remdesivir did not help hospitalized COVID-19 patients.A previous study by the U.S. National Institutes of Health found the antiviral drug shortened recovery time by five days, on average. That led to the drug getting emergency use approval in the U.S, as well as many other countries.The FDA’s decision on Thursday formally approves remdesivir as a treatment option, and makes it the first fully-approved treatment in the U.S.None of the studies have found the drug can improve survival rates.Remdesivir is one of the treatments President Donald Trump received when he contracted COVID-19 earlier this month. The Chicago Police Department is under fire after a video surfaced showing department officers helping the Norfolk Southern Police in an operation that used "bait trucks," container trucks filled with goods left to attract potential thieves.The Facebook video, shot last week by community activist Charles McKenzie, shows a white unmarked truck parked in the largely black Englewood neighborhood."The police parked a truck with boxes of Nike shoes in front of kids ... and when people hop in the truck the police hopping out on them," McKenzie wrote on Facebook.The truck was part of a surveillance operation, nicknamed "Operation Trailer Trap" by police, used to target individuals who had been breaking into freight containers at Norfolk Southern rail yards, Norfolk Southern told CNN. The rail company has its own police force.A man was arrested on August 2 as part of the sting and charged with burglary. The Cook County State's Attorney's Office said the charges against the suspect were dropped on Thursday.
