SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Video captured a man smashing display cases inside a Mission Valley mall jewelry store Wednesday evening.The cell phone video given to 10News shows a suspect using whatever he can find to smash a jewelry case inside Zales.The incident started around 2:15 p.m. when a witness saw the man wearing a Padres jersey walking around suspiciously.The witness first saw the suspect take a hat from a kiosk before walking into Champs Sports, taking off his jersey and stealing a Nike jacket.The man then began to untie a pair of shoes on a mannequin in an attempt to steal them. Once he saw people watching him, the suspect left the shoes and ran to the jewelry store.He grabbed a pipe and tried to break open a jewelry case. After the unsuccessful attempt, he then grabbed a mirror and tried to do the same thing.Unsuccessful again, the suspect grabbed a chair and continued to smash the cases until he was able to stuff some necklaces into his pocket.By the time the man broke the display cases, police had arrived on scene, taking the suspect out in handcuffs. 1081

His first symptom was shortness of breath, which he initially blamed on his asthma."He then feeling started feeling joint pain, his whole body ached and continued to worse. Then he got a fever," said his friend Alana Hoang.Hoang says two Fridays ago, while Huerta was waiting in his primary care doctors office, his conditions worsened."Shortness of breath got worse. He couldn't breathe ... He ended up in the ER," said Hoang.There, Huerta tested positive for COVID-19 and was admitted."He was very scared. He didn't want his kids to have to go through something so traumatic again, like they did with their mother," said Hoang.Huerta, a father of four - two adult children and two teens - lost his wife Sara nearly five years ago to cancer.Alone in the hospital, his thoughts turned to his children."He was afraid he wasn't going to be there for them, so he started thinking the worst," said Huerta.Meanwhile, Hoang started a Gofundme campaign to help the man she says is "part of the family."Huerta, a gardener, has been working with her for 15 years."He is just so kind and gives of himself. To watch for the threat from growing brush and grass, Cal Fire and other agencies track fuel moisture, the amount of water in a plant. When fuel moisture is high, fires do not ignite quickly - or at all, according to the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Association. Fires spark easily and spread fast when fuel moisture is low. Any fuel moisture content level below 30 percent indicates the brush is dead and at the mercy of temperatures, humidity and winds, NOAA reports. The calculations are critical for firefighters when Santa Ana conditions arrive and San Diego’s winter storms are a distant memory. “A direct relationship to this rain is how damp that brush is throughout the summer, or how high it is,” said Cal Fire Captain Jon Heggie. “Think of it as a sponge and it’s full of water right now,” said Heggie. “We’ll monitor that throughout the year and as we get closer to the heat of the summer we’ll really pay attention to what those levels are.
