THORNTON, Colorado – The three victims of Wednesday’s shooting at a Thornton Walmart were identified Thursday afternoon by the coroner’s office for Adams and Broomfield counties.They are 52-year-old Pamela Marques of Denver, 66-year-old Carlos Moreno of Thornton, and 26-year-old Victor Vasquez of Denver.Carlos Moreno was a structural trades technician at the Auraria Higher Education Center in Denver, the campus confirmed to Denver7 television station. Family members of Moreno’s also wrote on Facebook that he had been killed.“I am in shock,” wrote a niece of his. “Please keep his wife and kids in your prayers. This is such a great loss to our family.”His cousin wrote on Facebook: “Carlos was a good husband, father, grandfather, cousin, friend man. I am blessed to have had you in my life. Please pray for the family.”Victor Vasquez was a father of two young girls and had another child on the way, according to his fiancé and a GoFundMe page started by a family friend.His fiancé told Denver7 she was “completely distraught” by Vasquez’s death.Police arrested 47-year-old Scott Ostrem Thursday morning in connection to the shooting. TIJUANA, Mexico (KGTV) - Hundreds of kids are waiting at shelters in Mexico, unable to get their asylum application processed, according to lawyers.They came with the migrant caravan in November. "Really quite brave of them to go through all of that," Lawyer Kara Lynum said. Lynum traveled to Tijuana with fellow lawyers from around the country in December.While in the shelter during their five day stay, she says they saw huge gaps in resources for the kids, prompting them to create a GoFundMe page."So the money is going directly to Al Otro Lado, so they're going to use it to fund those needs, they're going to hire a teacher. They're going to hire a trauma counselor for the kids, enhance security in the shelter and then hopefully hire a lawyer too," Lynum said one of the biggest issues is getting kids' applications processed."There's that list for asylum seekers, and the kids can't get on that list," saying change needs to happen, "for the children, in particular, they should be able to walk up to the Port of Entry and start the process of asylum."The roadblock, the law states anyone under 18 must have a guardian, to ensure the child is acting under their own free will."To know the background of this minor, I mean there's arguments that some of these kids are being trafficked. We don't know exactly where are there parents?" Thousands of Americans descended upon Washington D.C. Friday for a "March on Washington." The event was organized following the death of George Floyd earlier this year. "It's just too much injustice," Beth Wagner, who traveled from New Jersey to participate in the march, said. Wagner has two black sons.
