COMPILED BY California Department of Social ServicesSEARCH FOR YOUR FACILITY ONLINECommunity Care Licensing Division has compiled important information regarding licensed facilities to provide the public on an online searchable database. The information supplied on the database contains facility inspection reports, violations, inspection history and other pertinent information for prospective parents/caregivers.SEARCH LICENSED FACILITIESThis information should serve as an initial point of inquiry regarding the status of licensed facilities. Additional information about a particular facility is available from the appropriate licensing office. If your child is already enrolled in licensed care, you can subscribe to your child's facility in the database and get updates when any new information is provided about that facility.Regarding Family Child Care Homes in the Facility Database:Large family child care homes may be searched by area and contain the same information child care centers have excluding addresses.Small family child care homes may only be searched by knowing the exact facility license number; a general search will not bring up the small family child care home.Family child care homes located in Del Norte or Inyo County are not in the database.Your local Resource and Referral Agency (R&R), is also available to help you find a child care facility.CHOOSING THE BEST CHILD CARE FOR YOUR FAMILYThe Parent’s Guide to Choosing Child Care is the Department’s comprehensive publication for parents seeking child care. It includes information about the different types of child care that are licensed in California, various educational philosophies, questions to ask a prospective provider, and a checklist to take with you when you tour facilities while making your child care decision. Also available in Spanish. 1843
CLEVELAND, Ohio – President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden are debating each other for the first time.WATCH LIVE:The 90-minute event will be split up into six 15-minute segments and there will be no commercial interruption. Each of the six segments will be dedicated to a predetermined topic. The Commission Presidential Debates says those topics will include: “the Trump and Biden records, the Supreme Court, COVID-19, the economy, race and violence in our cities, and the integrity of the election.”The topics were chosen by the moderator of the debate, “Fox News Sunday” anchor Chris Wallace.Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 general election is unlike any other in American history. The threat of COVID-19 has prevented the candidates from campaigning in a way we’ve seen in the past. Trump has still held rallies, but with some precautions taken, while Biden has opted to rely heavily on virtual events and socially distanced speeches.Tuesday night, Trump and Biden will appear on stage together, but far apart and the candidates are not expected to shake hands. The audience will also be smaller than in years past and all in-house spectators will be tested for the coronavirus. This debate will provide both nominees the opportunity to shape the narrative of the election, which has largely been focused on the handling of the pandemic, the push for racial equality, and most recently the vacancy of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat on the Supreme Court.Along with those topics, a bombshell report from The New York Times is sure to be brought up. The “newspaper of record” reported Sunday that it has obtained more than two decades worth of Trump’s tax information. The documents reportedly revealed Trump paid just 0 in federal income taxes in 2016 and 2017. In 10 of the 15 years before that, he paid no income taxes at all, The Times reports. The president has called the reporting “fake news.”Trump and Biden are getting ready for the debate in starkly different ways. The Washington Post reports that Trump isn’t doing much to prepare, instead relying on his experience at the White House and at rallies. Meanwhile, The Post says Biden is doing more traditional debate prep. After Tuesday’s debate, the American people will have to wait more than two weeks before Trump and Biden face off again on Oct. 15 at a town-hall style debate in Miami. The final debate will be held in Nashville on Oct. 22.Election Day is on Nov. 3. Click here for the registration and early voting deadlines in your state. 2545

CLAIREMONT, Calif. (KGTV) -- A warning for the next time you drop a piece of mail in a postal collection box: a local thief may be getting creative to grab your mail.Around 7 pm Monday, along Mt. Everest Blvd, Dennis Fipps walked a few blocks from his home and dropped off a driver's license renewal in the blue box.The next morning, Fipps says a neighbor showed up at this door with his empty envelope. In all, he believes that neighbor found torn mail strewn in the gutter for 8 to 10 neighbors. "I thought 'Omigosh! The check,'" said Fipps. The check was made out to the DMV for . In the past several years, 10news has reported on stolen checks being washed: a chemical solution dissolving away the ink, allowing a thief to fill in the blanks. Fipps called his bank and stopped the check, then headed to the post office. "Their response was that the box had been fished," said Fipps. In that fishy tactic, the fishing line is often a simple string, connected to a rodent glue trap, allowing the thief to grab onto envelopes and pull them out of the collection box. "It's dastardly. I'll say that much," said Fipps. Postal officials say 'fishing' is not common, but it does happen in the area. A spokesperson tells 10news almost all the local boxes have anti-fishing security measures, and they will now be looking at this collection box to see what went wrong. "There's an expectation of security and that has kind of been shattered," said Fipps. 1558
CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) -- The owner of The Coronado Flower Lady, a popular flower stand along Orange Avenue, is trying to rebuild after a suspected drunk driver destroyed her business. Coronado police say 22-year-old Elias Atayee is being charged with felony DUI after crashing his car into the stand. They say Atayee also had a female passenger inside his car. RELATED: Driver slams into Coronado pole, picnic tables“The fact that there are people drinking and driving, going 90-100 miles per hour, I have my kids out here with me all the time at work," owner Shanel Albert said. "There are tons of kids out here and people. If one of my girls would have been here during the day and that happened, they would have been dead. And that scares me.” Thanks to the City of Coronado, Albert will be back selling her flowers on a table in the same spot until she can permanently rebuild her stand. A GoFundMe has been set up to help with costs and Albert says she hopes people will choose to place their orders through her since her business is still operational. 1104
