SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police said a man who was trying to sell basketball tickets Friday robbed a victim near San Diego State University as the NCAA basketball tournament was underway.The robbery happened about 11 a.m. in the east alley of 5100 College Ave., police said. The location is behind the ARCO gas station at the corner of Montezuma Rd.Officers said the suspect stole the victim’s money and may have been carrying a small knife. The victim was not hurt.The suspect ran toward the Aztec Student Union and was last seen near Campanile Drive.Police said the suspect is a black man in his late teens, about six-feet tall and 120 pounds. He was wearing a gray beanie, gray sweatpants, a red hoodie, and red Jordan sneakers. 748
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Smoke from a fire burning in Mexico is visible throughout San Diego Thursday. The blaze is burning roughly five miles into Mexico amid hot, windy conditions. According to Cal Fire, the fire poses no threat to the U.S. at this time. The agency said, however, it is monitoring the situation and will send a response if the fire threatens San Diego County. A red flag warning was issued for much of San Diego County through Friday. “Winds will get stronger during the day today peaking overnight into Friday early afternoon. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police, Chula Vista Police, and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reminded the public Friday about DUI enforcement scheduled for the Memorial Day weekend.16 people died and another 385 were injured in alcohol-related collisions during the holiday in 2016.Deputies said they would be conducting additional DUI patrols from Friday at 7 p.m. through early Tuesday morning.San Diego and Chula Vista Police said officers would also conduct extra patrols. Motorcycle and seat belt enforcement patrols were also planned for the weekend.Law enforcement agencies also warned drivers to be aware that driving under the influence of marijuana is also driving impaired."Don't put your life and those of others in danger by driving while impaired," said Sheriff Bill Gore. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Six people were arrested after more than a dozen people knocked down barricades outside San Diego Police Department's headquarters.San Diego Police say a group of 20 people arrived at the Broadway headquarters and began knocking down police barricades on Saturday.Police said six people were arrested for assaulting and resisting officers.One officer was taken to a nearby hospital for a knee injury. 427
