SAN FRANCISCO, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Google on Tuesday launched its long-awaited cloud-based music service Music Beta without any label licenses it originally wanted.The search giant introduced the digital music locker service at its annual I/O developer conference in San Francisco. So far, only U.S. users can access the service by requesting an invitation from Google while priorities will be given to those with the Verizon version of the Motorola Xoom tablet and attendees of the I/O conference.Since Google failed to come to a license agreement with major music labels, Music Beta is essentially a massive cloud hard drive. Users cannot share their Music Beta by Google tunes or purchase new songs. It allows users to upload 20,000 songs into the cloud, compared with Amazon Cloud Drive's 2,000 songs and 5 GB limit for free accounts.Any web-connected devices with a browser or supporting Flash can stream music from the digital locker, but the service is only for Android-powered devices.Music Beta also gets Instant Mix, a similar intelligent feature to Apple's Genius playlist creator, which creates new playlists based on a single song by analyzing its characteristics.Before unveiling the service, Google told U.S. media Monday night that the current Music Beta is not the service Google had wanted to offer and it will continue to seek licenses with major music labels.

BEIJING, May 20 (Xinhuanet) -- Scientists have discovered a Jupiter-sized exoplanet that is completely unbound from a host star, according the scientific journal "Nature" published Thursday.The research was conducted by astrophysicists from Osaka University in Japan.Using the technique called "gravitational microlensing", scientists turned their telescopes towards the centre of the Milky Way and detected this "lonely planet" moving in a extremely large orbit, which suggested it does not connect to any solar system.Then they estimated the total number of such wondering planets could be as many as 400 billion, based on the detection efficiency. This number far outnumbers the main-sequence stars such as our Sun."This is an amazing result, and if it is right, the implications for planet formation are profound," says astronomer Debra Fischer at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.And scientist began to consider the possibility that liquid water could exist on this kind of unbound planets. "That might be an attractive possibility for life," said David Stevenson, a planetary scientist at the California Institute of Technology.

CAIRO, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- The first training session for Egyptian Chinese language teachers to improve their teaching ability started on Sunday in Cairo.The session, under the supervision of the Chinese Confucius institute, will concentrate on the exchange of experiences in teaching the Chinese language in Egypt and the enhancement of Egyptian teachers' ability to make better use of the textbooks.The three-day training session will contain language and cultural courses by professors and instructors from famous Chinese universities such as Beijing University and Beijing Foreign Studies University, said Li Shengjun, head of the Confucius Institute at Cairo University.Nearly 60 Egyptian Chinese language teachers, including 14 professors, from universities including Cairo University, Ain Shams University and Minya University will attend the training courses.China has established 691 Confucius institutes and classes in around 69 countries until 2010, including nine in the Arab countries.

Some sites appeared to have recovered, including location-based social networking site Foursquare and HootSuite, an online brand management and social websites monitoring service.Amazon has not released the number of companies which have been disrupted by the outage and when the web-services will fully recover.The outage highlights risks of relying on public cloud service. Security and reliability have been experts' concerns on public could web-hosting service. Many Internet startups have been relying on the service to bring their costs down.Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) is a central part of Amazon's cloud computing platform Amazon Web Services. It allows users to rent virtual computers on which to run their own computer applications. The European Space Agency, PBS and Ericsson are all among its cloud service customers.According to Amazon's Service Health Dashboard, errors began at 1:41 a.m. PDT Thursday in its datacenter in northern Virginia, saying "instance connectivity, latency and error rates."
