As bottles of hand sanitizers and stacks of disinfectant wipes continue to fly off the shelves amid the coronavirus pandemic, the U.S. government issued a stamp of approval for another household cleaning product.The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) gave Pine-Sol Original Multi-Surface Cleaner the approval "for kill claims against SARS-Cov-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, on hard non-porous surfaces," according to a press release.To prevent the spread of COVID-19, those looking to use Pine-Sol is encouraged to apply the Pine-Sol multi-surface cleaner with a clean sponge or cloth on hard, nonporous surfaces. Once the surface is wet, let it stand for 10 minutes and then rinse, the press release says.In March, the EPA released a list of household products that kill the coronavirus. In London -- a Winston Churchill statue stands boarded up.This comes after other monuments to slavers were vandalized and torn down.Over the weekend in New Orleans, protesters took down a statue to slave owner John McDonough.A Christopher Columbus statue in Boston was recently beheaded, another thrown into a river.Across the United States, monuments to the Confederacy have been targeted.“There are a lot of people that have expressed this concern that if we take down monuments, then we are destroying our history or removing our history,” said Christopher Bonner, assistant professor of history at the University of Maryland. “I would disagree with that. I think that's not at all what's happening.”He says historians know these statues are not really about the Civil War.Bonner points to a speech from when a Confederate statue was erected at the University of Mississippi in 1906.“The person who was dedicating the monument was very clear about what was being memorialized,” said Bonner. “They said that former Confederate soldiers as valor, as noble as they were on the battlefield, they said that they were more important for the work that they did to restore white supremacy in the aftermath of the Civil War.”Many city officials are addressing the movement.In these 11 states, controversial statues have been taken down or are scheduled for removal: Alabama, Texas, Florida, New York, Michigan, Indiana, Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania. 1764

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – President Donald Trump is projected to win the state of Alaska, according to The Associated Press.Winning the state gives Trump three additional electoral votes, bringing him to a total of 217, still far behind Joe Biden.The AP still projects Biden will win the presidency, since he is on track to finish with at least 290 electoral votes. A candidate needs 270 to win.With the contest in Alaska called, the only two states that remain up in the air in the presidential race are Georgia and North Carolina, based on AP projections. Regardless of which way they sway, it likely won’t alter who takes the White House.Along with the presidency being called, the AP also projects that Alaska’s Republican senator, Dan Sullivan, will win reelection to the U.S. Senate.Sullivan's win brings to the GOP to 50 seats in the Senate, while the Democrats have 48. The Senate majority will all come down to who wins the two runoff races in Georgia.
