BEIJING, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- China's urban fixed asset investment rose 24.9 percent in the first 11 months year on year to hit 21.07 trillion yuan (3.19 trillion U.S. dollars), China's statistics authority said Saturday.The growth rate was 0.5 percentage points higher than that during the first ten months, according to figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).The urban investment in the primary, secondary and tertiary industries rose by 16.6 percent, 22.7 percent and 26.9 percent respectively.During the first 11 months, investment in central government projects rose 10.2 percent year on year to 1.68 trillion yuan, while investment in local government projects was up 26.4 percent to reach 19.39 trillion yuan, according to the NBS figures.Property development investment was up 36.5 percent year on year to reach 4.27 trillion yuan, the figures showed.During the same period, state-owned and state-controlled investment reached 8.75 trillion yuan, up 19 percent from a year earlier.Investment in railway constructions and transportation jumped 25.3 percent to 582.2 billion yuan, while investment in petroleum and gas exploration climbed 5.8 percent to 219.4 billion yuan for the first 11 months.

BEIJING, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China's economic planner and price regulator, said Friday it has asked local governments to crack down on some gas stations selling diesel above the state-set prices.NDRC investigators found some gas stations have been selling diesel above state-set prices in the provinces of Sichuan, Hubei, Henan, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Liaoning, Jiangxi and Shanxi and Chongqing Municipality.The NDRC has requested local governments to punish the offending gas stations.The stations were ordered to stop overcharging and turn over illegal incomes to authorities, according to a statement on the NDRC web-site.Also, the stations would receive punitive fines, it said.Among the violators, Yueyuan gas station in Xichang, Sichuan Province, sold No. 0 diesel for 9 yuan (1.35 U.S. dollars) per liter, as against the state-set 6.55 yuan.The NDRC said that consumers can call 12358 to complain about diesel overpricing and the price regulators will respond quickly.The latest measures were adopted in the wake of those publicized Tuesday, which were aimed to stop some refiners and diesel wholesalers from overcharging.An unprecedented diesel shortage has hit China's cities and markets, leading some wholesalers and gas stations to sell diesel above the state-set prices.Due to the diesel shortage, some enterprises suspended production and express deliveries turned into "snail deliveries."People found that it took much longer for buses to arrive and even some crematories found it hard to get enough diesel for cremations."We can't find enough diesel. Ten of the trucks in our company can't go out to deliver cargo. Our businesses are affected," said Du Zhanhai, head of a freight transportation company in Tangshan, north China's Hebei Province.The deadline for China's planned reduction in energy consumption is approaching. WUHAN, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- China is building museums and shooting a blockbuster movie in honor of the 1911 Revolution, whose centenary will be celebrated this year on both sides of the Strait.Also known as the Xinhai Revolution, the uprising in 1911 was remembered for creating the Republic of China, the first republic in the Asian history.Its spiritual leader, Sun Yat-sen, was also the founder of the Kuomintang (KMT).The Republic of China, however, ended its rule after the KMT was defeated by the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) and retreated to Taiwan in 1949.Both the Chinese mainland and Taiwan have promised a grand celebration of the revolution's 100-year anniversary, which will fall on October 10 this year.On the mainland, an epic movie depicting the revolution will hit the screen in September to recall the event.Named Xinhai Revolution, the movie stars over 70 leading Chinese actors and actresses, including Jackie Chan, Li Bingbing, and Winston Chao.It is another blockbuster China has made to present landmark revolutions.The previous film was Founding of a Republic, which hailed the 60th anniversary of the birth of the People's Republic of China in 2009.Apart from encouraging people to attend the cinema, many Chinese cities are also arranging exhibitions featuring the revolution.In the central Chinese city of Wuhan, where the revolution began, a new museum, the 1911 Revolution Museum, will be opened on the eve of the centenary.The city has also mounted a global search for lost materials and artifacts related to the revolution, said He Xiaoxu, the chief of Wuhan Bureau of Culture."The city government will assist in the work of gathering materials for the museum and fund the purchases," said He.So far, the museum has received 40 pieces of artifacts retrieved by purchases and 70 by donations, including three from Taiwan.The three artifacts, including one photograph and two calligraphies by revolutionary figures, were contributed by the leader of a Taiwan-based exchange promotion organization.Yang Yi, spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said the Chinese mainland supported a joint celebration of the anniversary with Taiwan."The commemoration of the revolution will help unite people across the Strait in achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation," said Yang.
