MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Joe Biden will not be traveling to Milwaukee to accept the Democratic presidential nomination, the Democratic National Convention Committee announced Wednesday.The DNCC said Biden would not be accepting the nomination at the Democratic National Convention, which is scheduled to begin on Aug. 17, citing coronavirus as the reason.Other speakers for the DNC will also no longer travel to Milwaukee. More than 120 people have been sickened since mid-May reportedly from bagged salad sold in Midwest grocery stores.Interviews with these people led the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to connect the illnesses with certain bagged salad mixes containing carrots, red cabbage and iceberg lettuce sold at ALDI, Hy-Vee and Jewel-Osco stores in several Midwestern states.As of June 22, 2020, a total of 122 people with laboratory-confirmed Cyclospora infections associated with this outbreak have been reported from 7 states: Illinois (30), Iowa (54), Kansas (1), Minnesota (13), Missouri (7) Nebraska (8), and Wisconsin (9). Of the 122 reported illnesses, the CDC says 19 people have been hospitalized.Symptoms of Cyclospora include diarrhea, loss of appetite, cramping, bloating, nausea, fatigue, vomiting and low-grade fever. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the restaurant has held music concerts to bring more people to the shop."It was a big shift for us to go basically to a full restaurant, instead of doing our carts and going to the people, so we knew we had to do something to make some waves and make people know that we're here," Daddy's Dogs owner Sean Porter said.But on Wednesday night, the parking lot performance shifted gears from music to comedy."I'm really excited about this, it's a little different than what we've done in the past," Porter said. "As far as I know there really hasn't been a big drive-in comedy show so there's a first for everything!"A few dozen carloads of people poured into the restaurant's parking lot for the show, flashing their lights and honking for the lineup of local comedians to take the place of laughter."This is just something that's nice that lets people feel safe, they're in their own space, and give them an outlet to not think about whats going on in the world," Porter said. Nearly 15,000 jobs are at stake as General Motors has announced it may be closing as many as five factories.The company said it will close the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant in Detroit and Warren Transmission Operations in Warren. It is closing facilities and reinvesting money away from cars that once dominated roadways and to technology that the company believes will power its future."These actions will increase the long-term profit and cash generation potential of the company and improve resilience through the cycle," CEO Mary Barra said.GM is preparing for the next economic downturn and potential tariffs on auto imports. It will reduce its salaried workforce by 15 percent, including a quarter of the company's executives.A plant in Canada that is closing will eliminate 2,500 jobs. The Canada plant set to close as part of the global restructuring is in Oshawa, Ontario, where it has been open since 1953.
