Oklahoma teachers say they have reached their breaking point over pay and school funding and may walk off the job next month.Galvanized by a growing social media campaign, teachers wanted competitive pay to attract and keep teachers in the state. Teachers were hoping for a ,000 raise with House Bill 1033, collectively called the Step Up Oklahoma Plan, which looked to increase the tax on tobacco and gas.However, that bill was voted down in the state House because it didn't get the 75% approval needed to pass, according to Oklahoma Department of Education Superintendent Joy Hofmeister."It was soul-crushing," Hofmeister said.Because of that, and a handful of other failed bills in the last two to three years, teachers are now actively discussing a strike, on the heels of a statewide strike by public teachers in West Virginia."What spurred this momentum was so many teachers across the state are at their wit's end," said Teresa Danks, a third-grade teacher in Tulsa who is also the founder of the nonprofit Begging for Education. "No bills have been passed in favor of teacher pay or funding, the frustration and low morale has continued to grow. We're losing teachers like crazy to other states."One of the authors of HB 1033, Republican Sen. Kim David, did not reply to CNN's request for comment. The legislative assistant for the other author, Republican Rep. Kevin Wallace, said the request for comment was forwarded to the state speaker of the house. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - Oceanside is home to the oldest cafe on the historic Highway 101. Appropriately named Cafe 101, when you step inside, you take a step back in time inside a 50s-style diner filled with memories and history. Café 101 has been an Oceanside fixture since 1928 for one reason. "Location, location, location," says John Daley sitting at the counter. Daley should know for several reasons. He's a developer, a third-generation Oceanside native, and former owner of Cafe 101 and much of its rich history."At one time, this was even our local bus stop for Greyhound out in front of us," adds Daley. When Camp Pendleton opened during World War II, Oceanside exploded from 5,000 people to more than 12,000. Cafe 101 was not only a drive-in diner, but it also served as a trailer park. "So those people had to have some place to live, they have to have some place to eat, and some place to recreate,” explains Daley. “So, it was just a crazy time in Oceanside history."For those Marines, Cafe 101 was like a second home and the employees who worked there were like family. Years later, when Daley and his partners bought the restaurant in the mid-80s he would see those Marines, much older now with children and grandchildren, return to the cafe to relive memories."Me being a big talker, I love to go out and say high to as many as I could recognize, and thank them for their service, and tell their kids what a great job they did to make our country free," says Daley with a smile. Cafe 101 is pure nostalgia. From home cooked food to the stainless-steel tables, the red booths, and the table side jukeboxes. But what sets Cafe 101 apart is its symbolic mural on the south wall of the cafe. It’s been featured in magazines and newspapers all over the world. That mural is what makes Cafe 101 such an essential part of Oceanside. "It was kind of iconic in a sense," says Daley. "Which is really a 101-highway mural too. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) — A body was discovered in a small North County lake while vector control workers sprayed for bugs Thursday.A helicopter pilot was dropping larvicide over the area behind the Vons shopping center at State Route 76 and Frazee Road about 1 p.m. and spotted the body floating on the surface, according to police.The lagoon was inaccessible by foot, said police. Officers deployed a drone to confirm there was a body on the scene.Oceanside Fire Department Lifeguards were called to retrieve the person's remains. Investigators believe he or she may have been in the water for at least two weeks.Oceanside Police responded to the scene and investigated the discovery. The incident is the second discovery of a body in Oceanside Thursday. OAKLAND, Calif. -- The United States Geological Survey is reporting that an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.5 has struck just outside of Oakland. The earthquake struck at 7:18 p.m. just two miles outside of Oakland Monday. No damage or injuries are being reported. The USGS originally reported that the earthquake was a 3.8 magnitude, then a 3.6. The quake was eventually downgraded to a 3.5.  439

One of the fiercest rivalries in sport -- the New York Yankees versus the Boston Red Sox -- is on the move and heading to London as Major League Baseball flies across the Atlantic to broaden its global reach.MLB announced Tuesday that the Yankees and Red Sox will play two regular-season games at the London Stadium -- which played host to the athletics and opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympics -- on June 29 and 30, 2019.The Red Sox will be the home team for the two-game series, the first MLB games to be played in Europe.But it will not be the first time regular-season MLB matches will have been played outside the US, with ties already having been staged in Mexico, Japan, Puerto Rico and Australia.It has already been announced that Oakland and Seattle will play next season's opener at the Tokyo Dome on March 20-21.As part of the two-year deal another series will be played in London in 2020.
