SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – San Diego police are investigating a series of scooter thefts that happened in the North Park neighborhood.Three scooters were stolen blocks from each other and reported one day apart.One was reported Tuesday in the 4800 block of Kansas Street.  Another two were reported stolen on Wednesday. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego police arrested a man in connection with the murder of a man on the I-15 freeway early Saturday morning.Police said 21-year old Brandon Acuna was in jail for his involvement in the murder of 21-year old Curtis Adams of San Diego.According to jail records, Acuna was booked for murder.Police did not confirm if he is directly responsible for Adams' death.Adams and his girlfriend were driving southbound on the freeway near the northbound I-5 on-ramp in Mountain View at around 2:20 a.m. on Saturday when they spotted a stranded car.The couple stopped their vehicle to help, said San Diego police homicide Lt. Anthony Dupree. Adams exited his vehicle and approached the other car.Someone inside the vehicle opened fire on Adams then fled the scene.Adams, an active-duty service member in the Navy, was taken to UCSD Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. Police said Acuna was also involved with an incident that happened 10 minutes earlier in a Mount Hope neighborhood.They say the suspect(s) in that incident shot at a victim after trying to break into his car near 600 Boundary Street. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police Monday identified a shooting victim found in Sherman Heights following a crash.According to police, 25-year-old Jose Alberto Ortiz died after officers found him with gunshot wounds on October 22 near 27th Street and K Street.Police responded to the area after receiving reports of a crash. After responding, police say they found a dark sedan that collided with a parked vehicle.“Upon contacting the driver, they saw that he had sustained trauma that was not consistent with a traffic collision and suspected the male had been shot,” police said.The man was taken to the hospital where he later died. The metrics were then organized under either "budget and participation" and "sports and outdoors."San Diego ranked first in fitness centers and sports centers per capita, seventh in baseball and softball diamonds per capita, 22nd in basketball hoops per capita, 16th in parkland acres per capita, and 30th in walking. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – San Diego Police are investigating a reported scam that seems to be targeting the elderly.Frank Dabalack says someone knocked on his door Monday at noon, claiming they could fix a dent on the back of his car for 5.  “I’ve wanted it fixed for a long time and here’s a guy who came over, it looked like he knew what he was doing,” Dabalack said.But once he agreed and the man and his crew began work the price kept jumping to nearly 0.“I was angry with myself,” Dabalack said, “because I knew it was scam, and I’d been scammed.”He found out with the help of his neighbor, who he asked to come over.  She took a closer look at the men’s repair work. She says they were damaging the car instead of fixing it. They covered the back of the car with some gooey residue but never touched the dent.  One of the men also took pliers to the grill and started bending it out of shape.When she started asking them questions, they took off. Dabalack says he wrote them a check for 5 but was able to cancel it with his bank.Martinez said when police arrived, they said they were familiar with the scam. The men look for handicapped plates on cars in driveways and try to trick the owners into paying large amounts of money.“Frank is from a generation where people kept their word, not scammed the elderly,” Martinez said. “Frank is like a dad to me.
