ORIENTAL, N.C. – A Navy veteran says his Chihuahua mix saved his life.Rudy Armstrong was on his houseboat in Oriental, North Carolina, when he suffered a stroke, according to CarolinaEast Health System.Luckily, Armstrong’s dog, Bubu, was there and sprang into action.“He and Bubu have a special bond and when Rudy couldn’t get to his phone to call for help, he looked his little friend in the eyes and said ‘I need help. Go get Kim,’” wrote the hospital in a Facebook post.Immediately, the hospital says Bubu ran off to get Kim, the area dockmaster, who called 911. They ultimately saved Armstrong’s life, with the help of paramedics and the staff at the hospital.On Aug. 7, the hospital says it was able to orchestrate a reunion between the veteran and “his best girl.” It was an emotional moment for everyone there. One person is dead and seven others injured following a vehicle crash involving an Ypsilanti school bus on eastbound I-94 Tuesday morning.The accident occurred around 10:15 a.m. Pittsfield Township Fire Department, Ann Arbor Fire Department and Michigan State Police responded to the scene after a SUV rear-ended a disabled Ypsilanti school bus at the eastbound I-94 exit.The bus was being provided tow assistance for a flat tire. There were no students on the bus at the time, according to the Ypsilanti School District.Police report that the driver of the vehicle, including three infants inside, were trapped after crashing into the school bus.The three children were transported to the University of Michigan Mott Children's Hospital in serious condition. Two people were transported to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in critical condition, and the tow truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. ODESSA, Texas – An 8-year-old girl in Texas died after authorities say she was forced to jump on a hot trampoline as punishment for an extended period of time.Additionally, the Odessa Police Department says the child wasn’t allowed to eat breakfast or drink any water, because she wasn’t jumping.Odessa police say officers responded to the girl’s home on Aug. 29 in reference to a medical call. When police arrived, they located the child, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.A search warrant was later obtained, and the temperature of the trampoline read to be about 110 degrees and the ground was around 150 degrees.On Oct. 8, police say they received the final autopsy report for the little girl, which listed her manner of death as homicide and the cause of death as dehydration.Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, capital murder warrants were obtained for both Daniel Schwarz and Ashley Schwarz.A police spokesperson told the Odessa American that the Schwarzes were the non-biological parents of the 8-year-old.Jail records show the couple were booked into the Ector County Law Enforcement Center on Monday.
