The sister of Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard is one of two women charged in connection with an assault that left an 84-year-old woman dead, according to a report. On August 31, authorities found Afaf Anis Assad unconscious in a California casino bathroom, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said in a news release. Investigators determined she "may have been the victim of an assault."Assad was transferred to a hospital near the Pechanga Resort Casino where she died from her injuries days later, the sheriff's department said."We are absolutely saddened over this incident and are praying for the victim and her family," President of the Pechanga Development Corporation Jared Munoa said.Kimesha Williams, 35, and Candace Townsel, 39, were both arrested and charged with robbery and murder "due to their involvement in Assad's death," the department said."The suspects were quickly identified through surveillance footage and the information was immediately provided to local law enforcement," Munoa said. "We pride ourselves on putting the safety of our guests and Team Members first and are fully cooperating with law enforcement to bring these perpetrators to justice."Williams' aunt, Denise Woodard, confirmed Williams' connection to the NBA star to 1283

The US-China trade war ratcheted up yet again on Friday, with Beijing unveiling a new round of retaliatory tariffs on about billion worth of US goods.China will place tariffs of 5% or 10% on US imports starting on September 1st, according to a statement posted by China's Finance Ministry. The Ministry also announced plans to resume tariffs on US imports of automobiles and automobile parts. The tariffs would be 25% or 5%, and would take effect on December 15th.Last week, China said it would take countermeasures after the United States announced it would impose 10% tariffs on Chinese imports worth 0 billion. The United States postponed the implementation of about half of those tariffs, which will cover several categories of Chinese-made consumer goods, until December. They had been due to take effect in September. The move comes amid indications the ongoing trade war is having an impact on the world's two largest economies. Industrial production in China — an important indicator for the country's economy — grew just 4.8% in July compared to a year earlier, according to China's National Bureau of Statistics. That's the worst growth for that sector in 17 years.American factories are also contracting for the first time in a decade and red lights are flashing in the bond market, where the yield curve has inverted. Such inversions, where the 10-year Treasury yield dips below the two-year Treasury rate, are historic predictors of a coming recession. 1481

The US Women's National Team sealed the deal with its fourth stunning victory Sunday at the World Cup, but the players are still fighting another battle back home. The soccer team's 2-0 victory against the Netherlands proved that the US women are still at the top of the game -- and, the athletes say, that they should be paid as equal to men."At this moment of tremendous pride for America, the sad equation remains all too clear, and Americans won't stand for it anymore. These athletes generate more revenue and garner higher TV ratings but get paid less simply because they are women," said Molly Levinson, spokeswoman for the USWNT players in their equal pay lawsuit."It is time for the Federation to correct this disparity once and for all."In March, 28 members of the USWNT sued the US Soccer Federation for allegedly discriminating by paying the women less than members of the men's national team "for substantially equal work and by denying them at least equal playing, training, and travel conditions; equal promotion of their games; equal support and development for their games; and other terms and conditions of employment equal to the MNT."The soccer federation and the plaintiffs last month tentatively agreed to mediation, which is expected to begin now that the World Cup is over.During the celebrations Sunday, the crowd at the soccer stadium in Lyon chanted, "Equal pay" in support of the women's efforts. 1435

The President's former attorney Michael Cohen testified that Donald Trump directed his charity organization to refund a "fake bidder" for a portrait of himself."Mr. Trump directed me to find a straw bidder to purchase a portrait of him that was being auctioned at an Art Hamptons Event," Cohen told the House Oversight Committee in a public hearing Wednesday."The objective was to ensure that his portrait, which was going to be auctioned last, would go for the highest price of any portrait that afternoon," Cohen said.According to Cohen, the "fake bidder" purchased the portrait for ,000.Cohen alleged that Trump directed the Trump Foundation to use its funds to reimburse the bidder and kept the art, which Cohen claims currently hangs in one of Trump's country clubs.Cohen also provided the House panel with an article about the portrait auction that Trump wrote on and sent to Cohen.Trump tweeted about the portrait sale back in 2013."Just found out that at a charity auction of celebrity portraits in E. Hampton, my portrait by artist William Quigley topped list at K," Trump wrote then. 1111
