A female teacher at a Pennsylvania middle school is on administrative leave after she could be heard on video calling a black man the "N-word" and using other racist language after a fender bender in the school parking lot.The incident happened Thursday at Drexel Hill Middle School, Upper Darby School District Superintendent Daniel McGarry said. The woman has been a teacher there since 2008, he said."Right now, this person is on administrative leave without pay," McGarry told CNN. "We're going to pursue it vigorously. The next steps are the staff member can elect arbitration."He confirmed the woman in the video uses the N-word and a derogatory remark that is offensive to the LGBTQ community toward a parent after a minor accident in the parking lot.The Upper Darby School District is in a residential suburb of Philadelphia. According to the district, the student population of its schools is increasingly diverse: 46.6% are African American, 31.76% are white, 14.4% are Asian/Pacific Islander, 5.62% are Hispanic and 1% are other. The video, posted on Facebook, appears to begin after the accident and as a man says, "I guess she's done cursin' and screaming."The woman cuts him a look as she rubs the bumper of the truck she was driving. She can be heard saying the man is "probably on welfare too."The man says, "Not even a little bit. Six figures a year, ma'am."The teacher, who has not been publicly identified, calls that BS."It's because I'm young and I'm black, the reason why you would say that," he says."That's right, because you're black," she replies, as she continues to rub the bumper."Probably on welfare," he says, repeating her words."That's right," she answers. "Always looking to milk the system. And you see me, a white woman, so you think I got money.""Not even a little bit. Don't even look like you got it," he says. "Not even a little bit.""Go back to your welfare, to your Section 8 house," she says, referring to a federal program of 1980
(WPLG/CNN) - A Broward County, Florida, man's Ring surveillance camera captured someone relieving himself on his driveway during the day."I know when it comes for you to go, you have to go," said victim Wilton Thomas.Thomas is trying to understand the situation but is frustrated after seeing the surveillance video of some dude dropping a deuce on his driveway."He could have drove himself right toward the left in the fence, toward the coconut tree and do what he wants to do there. That would be no problem, but in my driveway?" Thomas asks.Thomas says it was around 4 p.m. Saturday while he was at work that a green car pulled up."(The driver) just opened his door and pulled his shirt all of the way over and then stooped down and that was it," said Thomas. Then, just as quickly as he arrived, the party pooper drives off, leaving his shirt and his stool behind.Thomas says when he got home it was too late to take care of it right away, so he waited until Sunday morning to take on the turd."I went in the hot sun, scraped it up, put it into a bag, and I poured bleach and then I hosed and washed the whole thing off," said Thomas. Now, he says he's ready to put this smelly situation behind him. He just wants an apology from the person responsible."Knock and say, ‘Man, you know what I had an emergency, I had nowhere to go, and this is where I had to do what I had to do,’" said Thomas. 1406
A Kansas City man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted three people outside a Platte County motel and shot a service dog who tried to intervene in the attack. According to a probable cause statement, Mardrecuis D. Williams, 25, got into a fight with a person on Feb. 26 at a Motel 6. Both Williams and the other person were asked to leave the motel and not return. After being asked to leave, Williams returned twice overnight and knocked on the victims’ door, saying that he would kill them, according to the report. The next day, as the three victims were checking out and walking toward their vehicle, Williams and another suspect allegedly came out from behind a dumpster and began attacking them. At one point, Lolly, a 3-year-old Border Collie, attacked Williams, and he allegedly shot the service dog, the report said. Lolly was taken to an area animal hospital, where she had surgery to repair the gunshot wound to her left side and a ruptured spleen. Her intestines had fallen out due to the impact of the bullet, which veterinary staff also repaired. In addition, she had a three-inch laceration to her rear leg. The female victim told police that she suffers from a condition that causes joint pain, dizziness and panic attacks. Lolly helps provide balance during her dizziness episodes and provides comfort during panic attacks, she said.Williams was charged with three counts of second-degree assault, three counts of armed criminal action and one count each of unlawful use of a weapon, first-degree trespass and causing substantial injury to a service dog.He is being held at the Jackson County Jail on a ,000 cash bond. 1656
A close associate of President Donald Trump's personal lawyer says he delivered an ultimatum in May to the incoming president of Ukraine that no senior U.S. officials would attend his inauguration and all American aid to the war-torn country would be withheld if an investigation into Joe Biden wasn't announced. Lev Parnas, an associate of Rudy Giuliani, made several potentially explosive claims in a televised interview Wednesday. Parnas says, “President Trump knew exactly what was going on." He also says Attorney General William Barr knew about his efforts in Ukraine. 586
A 2-year-old girl died Wednesday afternoon after falling into a septic tank at the Paradise Lagoons RV Resort park in Aransas Pass, Texas. The girl has been identified as Charleigh Nicole Nelson. Her father, Charlie Nelson, works in the area. He said that his wife and their three children were visiting him when the accident happened.Aransas Pass Police Department Chief Eric Blanchard said the girl's body was recovered at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, after falling 15 feet into the tank. The young girl died before rescuers could reach her. Rockport Volunteer Fire Department, Fulton Volunteer Fire Department, Ingleside Fire Department and Aransas Pass Fire Department personnel responded to the scene. No one is sure how the girl fell into the tank, but RV park residents said the girl was walking on the lid of the tank, which was not securely fastened, and it buckled under her."We're dealing with a very, very horrible, tragic accident," said Rockport Police Department Cmdr. Larry Sinclair. Child Protective Services spokesman John Lennon told KRIS 6 News, however, that there have been at least three other similar drownings involving children in the last 10 years: one in Tyler in 2014, one in Bastrop Co. in 2015, the death of a 1-year-old in Hidalgo Co. in 2016. He also said there have been three children's drownings in water in 2020 alone. This article was written by Catherine McGinty for 1419
