— and the group expects that gas prices will continue to drop in the coming weeks.According to a press release, AAA projects that the national average for gas prices could fall to .75 a gallon at some point in April. It's the first time since 2016 that the average price or a gallon of gas dipped below .As of Tuesday, Oklahoma had the cheapest gas prices in the country, with an average of .55 a gallon. The only states where the average has price was above .75 a gallon are Hawaii (.36) and California (.05).The COVID-19 pandemic has devastated the demand for oil, as prices of crude oil have plummeted to a barrel — the lowest prices for oil since 2002. More people self-quarantining means fewer people using gasoline to travel, whether by car or plane. The economic downturn is also slowing the amount of cargo on the road and in the air."AAA expects gas prices to keep dropping as cheap crude combines with the realities of people staying home and less demand for gas," AAA spokesperson Jeanette Casselano said.Earlier this month, a gas station in Kentucky made national headlines when it sold gas for less than a gallon. The station quickly ran out of its supply of gasoline. 1201
as part of Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel's ongoing investigation into clergy abuse within the Catholic Church.Father Joseph "Jack" Baker was arrested Monday morning in Wayne County. He was charged with one count of criminal sexual conduct first degree — sexual penetration with a person younger than 13.According to a release, Baker has been a pastor at St. Perpetua Parish in Waterford, Michigan, since 2008. Prior to that, Baker was a pastor at St. Mary Parish in Wayne, associate pastor at Sacred Heart Parish in Dearborn and associate pastor at St. Hugo of the HIlls Parish in Bloomfield Hills. The Archdiocese of Detroit reported a tip to the lead prosecutor on the investigation, resulting in the charge.“This is just the tip of the iceberg,” Nessel said. “Our clergy abuse investigative team is working day and night to review the hundreds of thousands of pages of documents and files seized from all seven of Michigan’s dioceses last fall. At the same time, we continue to receive calls daily from victims who know we will listen to them, believe in them and investigate their allegations. They deserve nothing less than our very best.”Baker’s arrest follows Nessel’s May 24 announcement that five former priests had been charged with 21 counts of criminal sexual conduct. The men, who were all priests when the reported crimes were committed, are:? Timothy Michael Crowley, charged in Washtenaw County with four felony counts of CSC 1 and four felony counts of CSC 2. Crowley was arraigned June 29 in Washtenaw County; a probable cause conference is scheduled for July 30. ? Neil Kalina, charged in Macomb County with four felony counts of CSC 2. Kalina was arraigned June 20 in Macomb County; a probable cause conference is scheduled for July 9.? Vincent DeLorenzo, charged in Genesee County with three felony counts of CSC 1 and three felony counts of CSC 2. DeLorenzo was arraigned in Genesee County on June 18; his probable cause conference is scheduled for August 1. DeLorenzo is out on bond.? Patrick Casey, charged in Wayne County with one felony county of CSC 3. Casey waived his preliminary exam and is scheduled for arraignment July 18 in Wayne County 3rd Circuit Court. Casey is also out on bond.? Jacob Vellian, charged with two counts of Rape. The AG’s office is pursuing extradition of Vellian, who lives in India. This story was originally published on 2385
You know spring has sprung when hundreds of people daily turn to Twitter to vent about their itchy eyes, dripping nose and uncontrollable sneezing and coughing.Seasonal allergies, which affect about 36 million Americans, aren't just an annoyance; many doctors agree that there is a real connection between allergies and mood."'Cranky' is really the best word for it," said Katie Ingram, 30, of Alexandria, Virginia, a triathlete who has seasonal allergies. "I take a lot of medication for it, and that makes me sleepy. And I can't do a lot of the things that I like to do outside, so that makes me cranky. ... The wheezing part of it makes me feel tired."In some people, such annoyances are more serious. Research has shown that there is about a 50% increase in the risk for depression in a person suffering allergies, and if you've been seen by an allergist, that about triples the likelihood of having depression, said Dr. Paul Marshall, neuropsychologist at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. Those are correlations found in scientific studies, but they don't show that allergies cause clinical depression. In practice, allergy-connected mood changes usually boil down to mild depressive symptoms, like feeling sad, lethargic and fatigued, Marshall said. Some people say they're more likely to cry during the allergy season. Allergies could make symptoms even worse in a person with clinical depression, experts say."It's important for people to understand that experiencing allergies can affect their mood," Marshall said. That's not to say that all people with allergies have depression or that all people with depression have allergies. But experiencing allergic reactions does seem to be a risk factor for developing depression -- not necessarily the emotional side of the condition but more physiological symptoms such as low energy. But is all of this in spite of the use of antihistamines or because of it? And is it the actual allergic reaction that causes these symptoms or just the sleep disturbances and general discomfort? 2060
