A pair of cousins has been charged in the murder of pizza delivery driver Clarence Taper in a Milwaukee apartment. According to the criminal complaint, Mekael Kennedy, 17, from Hartford and his cousin D’Andre Kennedy, 25, of Milwaukee robbed and shot the driver on Monday, Sept. 11 when he came to make a delivery. They then took the pizza Taper was delivering into the apartment and ate it.One of his regular customers, Sheryl Cash said Taper went out of his way to help the older residents who live there. "The man, Mr. Clarence, ever since I have been ordering from them he always delivered my food. He would stand there and talk with you. He was just real nice and kind. And he didn't have to come to your door, but he would come to your door,"  Cash said.Police said on September 15, Mekael Kennedy's girlfriend placed an order to Buddy's Pizza and Steak, where Taper delivered from. Mekael Kennedy took his cousin, D'Andre Kennedy's gun, put on a hockey mask and demanded Taper's money. Mekael Kennedy told police he had his safety on and didn't know why the gun went off. According to the criminal complaint, Mekael Kennedy told the police the driver lunged at him and he didn’t know why the gun went off because he thought the safety was on.But D'Andre Kennedy said his cousin shot Taper because he tried to take his mask off.When D'andre Kennedy found out, he cleaned the gun and threw the bullets away. Mekeal Kennedy also admitted to police that he robbed a Papa John's delivery driver earlier that same week but did not hurt him because he didn't fight back."It was senseless, it was just senseless," Cash said.Mekael is being charged as an adult and faces armed robbery and murder charges. If convicted he could face up to 95 years in prison. D’Andre was charged with harboring a felon and obstructing an officer and could face four years behind bars.  1938

The diagnosis is subjective and every doctor manages it differently as the injury is just as complex as the brain.“When you have a heart attack and go into the ER, you get five objective tests. If you get a brain injury and you go into the ER, you get, ‘Follow my finger, what month is it, who’s the president?’ We have to do better for brain-injured patients,” Dr. Rosina Samadani, CEO of Oculogica, said.Samadani developed a device called the "Eye Box.” Her sister, a neurosurgeon, discovered the technology.“Where it really came from was noticing that when there’s a deficit in the cranial nerves, there is a deficit in eye movements and there is that same deficit that occurs in concussed patients.,” Samadani said.So, she created an algorithm based on those eye movements, which is how the Eye Box was born.“We’re looking at your pupils, we’re tracking them and having you perform a simple task,” Samadani said. “You watch a video as it moves around the screen and we watch your eyes watching that video and that’s it.”The sisters took the idea to TitletownTech.“We look for exceptional founders who are solving meaningful problem,” said Jill Enos, the managing director of TitletownTech.The venture capital fund builds and invests in startups.“TitletownTech was formed out of this improbable partnership between the Green Bay packers and Microsoft, both of whom shared a common interest in advancing the technology capabilities of the region but also in leveraging the strength of startups and founders as economic drivers in the regional economy,” Enos said.Enos says Oculogica immediately caught their attention. A University of Utah track athlete was shot dead on the campus Monday night by a man she reportedly had dated and complained to police about, authorities said.University police found Lauren McCluskey's body in the back seat of a car on campus after her worried mother called police, according to university Police Chief Dale Brophy. McCluskey, 21, apparently had a dispute with the man, identified as Melvin Rowland, 37, university Police Lt. Brian Wahlin said.The shooting led police to lock down the campus for hours while they searched for the suspect. Brophy said someone picked the suspect up from campus after the shooting.Early Tuesday, Salt Lake City Police saw Rowland in downtown Salt Lake City and briefly chased him, Brophy said. A Nevada Sheriff has taken to Facebook to apologize after leaving her gun in the bathroom of a casino.Nye County Sheriff Sharon Wehrly left her Glock .45 in a restroom toilet stall last week at Saddle West, a hotel, casino and RV Park in Pahrump.Casino General Manager Gregg Schatzman confirmed there was a weapon recovered last week in the bathroom by a porter who was cleaning. He said the porter turned it over to security, who then turned it over to him where it was locked up until the sheriff reclaimed it.Wehrly believes the incident happened last Tuesday or Wednesday but could not confirm which day she left her gun behind. She said she was only separated from her gun for about 10 minutes. She realized it was missing and went back to the restaurant where she'd been having lunch. She says she never left the building."It's a big responsibility to have a firearm and an even bigger responsibility to make sure it's kept in a safe environment all the time. However, people are human and mistakes happen," Wehrly said. "A gun is a tool, and we should always keep track of our tools. I was remiss in this case because I was on the phone dealing with an emergency. I was blessed that someone responsible found it."Schatzman added that there's always a concern when a weapon is left in a restroom. He said leaving a gun, especially a duty weapon, is very, very serious."There was a hole and fortunately we picked it up and so we're in good shape," Schatzman said.He emphasized his high regard for the Nye County Sheriff's Office and their quick response time whenever the casino needs them.Wehrly admitted that this is not the first time she's left her gun behind, though the others, she says, were in the distant past.She recalled a 1984 incident where she left her gun at the U.S. Department of Energy headquarters in Mercury and ended up working an entire shift without it.
