The scammer threatened to arrest the victim if they didn't pay them ,200 in Target gift cards.The victim eventually provided the gift cards to the caller and later reported the incident to police.Police tracked the redemption of the gift cards to a Los Angeles Target location, where they investigated surveillance videos of the transactions. Target reported a similar incident from Indiana University Police and investigators compared the two case videos and transactions. Police say they had enough evidence to identify and arrest Lu and Lee after they conducted surveillance on suspected locations and vehicles in Los Angeles.Police served search warrants on two locations as well, discovering about 0,000 in things like gaming systems and computer devices, gift cards, and gift cards from victims.Fontana Police warned the public to contact law enforcement if they receive a similar call and threatening requests. (KGTV) — Ventura Police have arrested a suspect wanted for killing a 55-year-old man in the Midway District on Thanksgiving Day.Forrest Robert Brantley, 38, was taken into custody in Ventura, police announced Wednesday, one day after San Diego Police released his photo to the public.On Nov. 28, SDPD says they received a call about a man who was severely injured in the 3100 block of Sports Arena Boulevard. Officer arrived to find Robert Frank Erbe with severe trauma to his neck.RELATED: Police identify man killed in Midway District stabbingMan stabbed to death in Midway District shopping centerErbe was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died of his injuries. (KGTV) - Suspected drug smugglers were rescued by U.S. Coast Guard crews this month after their vessel erupted into flames before sinking.Crews from the Coast Guard, Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations (AMO), the U.S. Navy ship USS Zephyr, and the Colombian Navy ship ARC "07 de Agosto" detected the high-speed vessel on April 7 in the eastern Pacific Ocean.As crews prepared to intercept the vessel, the suspected smugglers allegedly began abandoning their cargo and jumped from the boat as it caught fire.Crews rescued four suspected smugglers and spent 90 minutes extinguishing the flames."There was no doubt in our minds what needed to be done to salvage the evidence needed for a successful prosecution even if it meant laying Zephyr alongside a burning hull, with the intense heat and acrid smoke hindering our 90-minute firefight," Lt. Cmdr. Grant Greenwell, the commanding officer of the Zephyr, said.After putting out the fire, crews say they recovered about 1,080 pounds of cocaine. The four suspected smugglers were transferred to custody aboard the Zephyr.The suspected drug vessel was severely damaged and sunk as it was a hazard to navigation. 1195
