SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Officers responding to a reported car crash in Sherman Heights early Thursday morning found a man in one of the vehicles suffering from gunshot wounds.At around 12 a.m., San Diego police officers were dispatched to 27th and K streets after a vehicle crash.When officers arrived, they found a car had slammed into at least one parked car.Inside one of the cars was a man with gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital, but he later died from his injuries, according to SDPD officials.Police learned the driver was heading south in the 300 block of 27th Street when some area residents reported hearing gunfire. The driver eventually collided with the parked vehicle in the 200 block of 27th Street.The victim was identified as a 25-year-old Hispanic male.SDPD’s Homicide Unit is investigating the incident. 835

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Officials have called off the search and rescue operation for eight service members who went missing after an amphibious assault vehicle accident off San Clemente Island last week.The 15th Marine Expeditionary Force said in a release Sunday that all eight members — seven Marines and one sailor — are presumed dead after it was determined, "that there was little probability of a successful rescue given the circumstances of the incident."Officials say they searched for 40 hours covering more than 1,000 square nautical miles in their efforts to find the missing service members.RELATED: Camp Pendleton Marine dies, 8 missing in training accident off San Clemente Island“It is with a heavy heart, that I decided to conclude the search and rescue effort,” said Col. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles has announced he will retire from football at the end of the 2019 season, the Eagles announced Saturday.Sproles spent 15 years in the NFL, racking up 3,552 career rushing yards, 4,840 receiving yards, and 55 total touchdowns. He was a three-time Pro Bowl running back and spend six seasons in San Diego with the Chargers before heading to the New Orleans Saints and lastly Philadelphia.The 36-year-old Sproles told reporters he's at peace with his decision to retire. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police arrested two people following a pursuit through San Carlos Friday night.Officers say they responded to reports of gunshots near the San Carlos Recreation Center around 9:53 p.m. They said they tried to pull over a suspicious vehicle, but it took off. A five-minute pursuit took place before the suspect’s car crashed near the Jackson and Golfcrest Drives.The suspects rushed out of the vehicle, but one was caught after surrendering at a nearby taco shop.  The other one ran into a nearby housing complex. That suspect surrendered after about a three-minute standoff.Police say they found guns in the car. The suspect's names have not yet been released.  713

Feet from Palisades Park is an impressive home, perched on a bluff and boasting a pristine view. That home is now adorned with something not so pristine."Not good. It's an eyesore for the area. Spoils the whole look for the area," said Nick Tulip, a tourist from England.Neighbors say the large tagging appeared on the home over the weekend. "This kind of stuff I've never seen before, so I hope it won't be trending," said Elise Bernier, who lives in the area.Just to the south, along other parts of the shore, the sight of graffiti is more common, especially as school lets out for the summer. Neighbors in North Pacific beach are concerned that could be headed in their direction."It's an early sign of what's to come," said Ron Calkins, a retired firefighter who has seen tagging escalate in other areas."Other people are going to cross it off and put their own tags up. It turns into a stupid turf war between people that don't even live here ... just going to get worse unless there is more enforcement," said Calkins.The possibility that there is more to come is an uneasy feeling in an area known for tranquility."Totally disrupts the beauty of what's going on," said Bernier. 1365
