SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Kristi's a full-time 5th grade teacher and her sister, Heather, is the director of compliance and relations at San Diego State, Heather also runs a small tattoo removal business on the side.When COVID came around, the sisters added even more to their plate."We're both born entrepreneurs and always are thinking about solutions," says Heather.While Heather was creating a COVID training guide for her employees as her small business prepared to reopen, the sisters stumbled upon an idea that could help small business owners navigate some of their own challenges."We started brainstorming and began to go through pieces, did the research and provided a training for her employees and thought,'oh my gosh, if she needs this everyone's going to need this,'" Kristi recalled. That's when Small Business Employee Training was born. Their safety course takes in-depth COVID-19 information, along with CDC guidelines and regulations, and transforms it all into a 30-minute safety course for employees. "In the state of COVID, there was a lot of fear and anxiety around going back to work. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- It will take about a month to get the old Family Courthouse in downtown San Diego demolished and the area cleaned up, and once it’s gone, work will begin on what will replace it -- brand new affordable housing units.Piece by piece, the building that once heard divorce, custody, and other domestic issues was torn down. In its place will be a new eight-story building with 120 affordable housing units at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Cedar Street.While it’s been vacant, it was used as a temporary shelter for migrant families seeking asylum. Soon it will become home to senior citizens and other families.To be eligible for this affordable housing, a household must make less than 60% of the area median Income. For San Diego, according to the San Diego County website, it is less than ,000 for one person.County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher said the location plays a big part in this project.“Everyone one wants affordable housing as long as it's not near them, but we know this is where housing needs to go. This location is in an urban environment in a downtown setting along transit corridors, walking distance to services is where we need to go,” Fletcher said.After the building is demolished, the next step in this project will be to get community input on the design of the unit. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Lifeguards removed a body found floating in the ocean off Sunset Cliffs Friday morning, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue.First responders were notified about 9:30 a.m. about the remains near Point Loma Ave. Lifeguards removed the body and transported it to their headquarters, officials said.The person had been in the water “a while”, according to San Diego Police.Officers told 10News they would be handling the discovery as a death report and not sending a homicide team to investigate.The person's identity and cause of death were not immediately available. 590

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - In preparation for one of the most advanced fighter jets in the world, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar is planning security upgrades to its airfield perimeter fence.10News discovered it’s one of nine large-scale construction projects that Miramar will be doing over the next decade."These construction projects here are what enables, that is what brings our national defense policy and strategy to reality," said Public Works Officer Lt. Commander Travis Brinkman.Currently being built in the heart of MCAS Miramar is a 160,000 square foot hangar is designed to hold up to 12 F-35s.It's the first of three hangars planned for the location."The need to provide modern facilities as well as the F-35 has specific requirements, specific systems that need different maintenance, different capabilities within the facility itself to provide that maintenance,” said Brinkman.
