Williams Park to Elliott Avenue Park.Williams served as chief of police from the 1920s to the 1960s, according to the commission.The reason behind the name change is according to the city's website, Robinson was in Sanford on April 7, 1946, playing in an exhibition game for the Montreal Royals.According to the commission's documents, at the top of the second inning, Williams ordered Robinson to quit "because the city did not allow integrated teams to use city-owned fields."Williams then entered the dugout and told Robinson's manager that if he didn't leave the ballpark, it would be called off, the document stated.Robinson went on to break the race barrier with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. 983

A popular New Jersey restaurant is drawing criticism for a policy making underage customers pay an 18 percent tip for their order, the New York Post reported.The Wayne Hills Diner in Wayne, New Jersey is reportedly a popular spot for teenagers and children after school, but its management says that children don't always tip. That is why it has enforced a policy adding gratuity to underage customers, but not adults."My employees need to get paid. They don't work for free," the restaurant's manager told the Post. The restaurant says it is not trying to scare off young customers. "We love the kids. They've been coming for years. We're a family-owned business," the manager told the New York post. "There's too much publicity for nothing. But some parents think it is unfair to make children tip, while not making adults add gratuity."I was angry because I had been there the week before and I had been there with a group of five, some kids and some children, and I was not charged this gratuity," long-time customer Melissa Desch told WABC-TV.Desch said that her 11-year-old daughter spotted the added gratuity after she got her receipt. "He said that's policy because the kids run out and he feels that they don't tip well, and they don't know how to tip was the explanation," she told WABC. "I said I could understand that, but again, they're not being given the option, they're being forced to pay them." 1445

A UPS driver in Clackamas County, Oregon called his wife who then called 911 after he heard cries of "help" coming from inside a residence while the driver was on his route. It turns out that the UPS driver was tricked by a parrot. The incident took place Monday evening, according to the Oregonian. The Oregonian reported that the UPS driver became distressed over what sounded like a human's cry for help. He then called his wife, who then called 911, alerting authorities to the screams. Deputy Hayden Sanders responded to the scene, expecting it to be tense. But thankfully, within minutes, Sanders had a reason to laugh. Sanders confirmed that Diego the parrot was behind the screams. After concluding that everyone, including Diego, was safe, Sanders posed for a photo with the mischievous parrot. The photo was then posted on the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.  929

A police department in Arkansas has apologized for sharing a misleading warning about the danger of opioids on its Facebook page."The post about the fentanyl was sent so me from another officer at another Department," the Leachville Police Department wrote on Facebook Thursday. "I simply shared it. I’m should have checked into it further before I posted it. Sorry for the confusion."The Leachville Police Department warned residents to wipe down shopping carts before using them to protect against the dangers of fentanyl, a powerful opioid. "Fentanyl or something like that still on their hands and they touch that cart handle and then you do, it can get into your system," the department originally posted on Facebook. "Scary but worth taking the time to clean the handle. All you'd have to do is rub your nose or touch your child's mouth. I never even considered this possibility. Children being exposed to just the powder or residue is a bad situation that can turn deadly."While a police officer in Ohio recently claimed ot have overdosed on fentanyl by simply touching the substance, some experts dispute the officer's claim.According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, opioids killed more than 33,000 people in 2015. Nearly half of the opioid overdose deaths involve a prescription opioid, according to the CDC.  1400

A Valrico, Florida mom is sharing her experience on social media after she said she was asked asked to wait outside the Plant City DMV office with her infant daughter.Liz Gatley, a stay-at-home mother of three girls, said she was asked by a representative at the Plant City Tag Office to take her one-year-old daughter outside or come back another day. In a picture on Facebook you can see at least four young children, one in a stroller, and the mothers waiting outside the office. Gatley said her daughter, as well as the other children were not being disruptive and said she's a firm believer of taking them outside if they were. In the post, Gatley wrote, "I was so mad but I was also embarrassed and confused," she said. She went on to say, "for you to embarrass me and be extremely rude, unapologetic and not understanding the fact many moms are stay at home moms with little to no help, is what bothers me."Gatley said she and the mothers stood outside with no bench or air conditioning as they waited two hours to be seen at the office. At the end of the post she said, "if you have children, go to another location!"Doug Belden with the Hillsborough County Tax Collector's spoke with Tampa-based WFTS on Friday afternoon. He apologized to Gatley and the experience at the Plant City office noting it was not the friendly and efficient policy that is in place.Belden said he called Gatley directly and told her he would meet with her at her earliest convenience, even throughout the weekend to help get the facts of what happened. Belden said he is outraged that Gatley experienced this at his office, and that children are always welcome in the offices across Hillsborough County.He went on to say that he will be looking into this employee, and taking appropriate measures -- and even went as far to say he plans to check with the landlord to see if they can install benches outside the office. We asked Belden if Gatley should have gone back inside, and he said "absolutely" adding if he found out about this situation at the time, he would have taken care of this immediately. Gatley said Belden was sincere in his apologies and plans to take him up on his offer of meeting with her as soon as possible.  2349
