"The new moves were proved to be correct and effective."     The central budget is supposed to be discussed at the NPC annual session in next March. SHANGHAI, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter said Friday he hoped the United States and China would deepen mutually beneficial financial interdependence.     Carter said the financial crisis enabled closer ties between the United States and China and he hoped China would continue to buy U.S. government debt.     Carter, in China to attend events to mark the 30th anniversary of Sino-U.S. diplomatic ties, conveyed President-elect Barack Obama's message of his resolve to maintain sound bilateral relations.     Although China and the U.S. had different cultures, histories and political systems, they had much more in common, said Carter at a symposium marking the anniversary.     The United States attached great importance to U.S.-China relations, especially in coping with the challenge of global climate change and the financial crisis, he said.     He believed bilateral relations would continue to develop and improve in the next 30 years.     In Shanghai, Carter also attended the opening of a photo exhibition which showcased the 30-year course of China-U.S. relations.     The former president also voiced his confidence in the strong U.S. participation in the Shanghai World Expo to be held in 2010.

BEIJING, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor has called for seriously studying the essence of the third plenary session of the 17th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), which is ushering in a new round of rural reforms in the country.     Great efforts should be made to push forward the rural reforms, so as to consolidate and develop the country's general situation featuring a stable and fast economic development and a harmonious and stable society, said Jia Qinglin, chairman of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee.     Jia, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, made a study tour in Jilin Province on Oct. 18-22 in the company of Jilin's Party chief Wang Min and Governor Han Changfu.     During his stay, he visited local factories, villages, schools, research institutions and construction sites, and heard reports by local officials to learn about the real situation in this northeastern province. ANKARA, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- China attaches importance to its friendship and cooperation with Turkey, said China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin here Thursday.     China will enhance exchanges and mutual trust, consultations and coordination in international and regional affairs, and cooperation in economy, trade, culture, education and tourism with Turkey, said Jia at a meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.     Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said the Chinese side is satisfied with the development of bilateral relations and confident in their future friendship and cooperation.
