VISTA (CNS) - A 59-year-old motorist was killed Friday in a solo crash on state Route 78 near Shadowridge Golf Club.The man lost control of the Ford F-150 for unknown reasons while driving in the far left-hand westbound lane of the freeway west of Sycamore Avenue in Vista shortly after 12:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.The vehicle veered to the right, crossing all lanes before leaving the roadway, plunging down an embankment and striking a tree, CHP public-affairs Officer Mark Latulippe said.Paramedics took the motorist, an Oceanside resident, to Palomar Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. (KGTV) — Two people were arrested this week after a pursuit took authorities from Valley Center into unincorporated Escondido.San Diego Sheriff's Department says the pursuit began just after 9 p.m. near State route 76 near Pala Mission Rd. after a deputy spotted a stolen truck. When the deputy tried to pull the truck over, the deputy says the drier sped off.The chase reached speeds of 90 miles per hour and lasted about 30 minutes, with deputies from Fallbrook and San Marcos assisting in the chase.A spike strip was used and put an end to the chase near the Mountain Meadows community of unincorporated Escondido, the department said.After hitting the curb, the driver put the truck in reverse and rammed into a Sheriff's patrol car, deputies say.No deputies were hurt.The female driver and male passenger of the truck, identified as Sally Arrellanes and Roy James Duncan, were arrested and charged with felony evading, assault with a deadly weapon likely to result in great bodily injury, vehicle theft, conspiracy to commit crime and possession of a stolen vehicle. 1093

VISTA (CNS) - A man and woman were being sought Sunday after the man allegedly rammed and disabled a sheriff's deputy's patrol car while fleeing the scene of a theft at a 7-Eleven store.The theft happened at 2:10 p.m. and someone at the store began following the suspect who was driving a stolen car, according to Lt. William Amavisca of the sheriff's department.Deputies were notified of the theft and caught up to the suspect, who then rammed a deputy's vehicle on East Vista Way, Amavisca said. The deputy's vehicle was disabled. No injuries were reported.The suspect fled the scene and deputies later found the car abandoned and disabled, the lieutenant said. The driver and his female passenger apparently fled the scene on foot.A deputy recognized the man as having a felony arrest warrant, Amavisca said. 819

WASHINGTON — A unanimous Supreme Court has ruled that Muslim men who were placed on the government’s no-fly list because they refused to serve as FBI informants can seek to hold federal agents financially liable. The justices on Thursday continued a string of decisions friendly to religious interests in holding that the men could sue the agents under the 1993 Religious Freedom Restoration Act. The three foreign-born men claim that their religious convictions led them to rebuff agents who wanted them to inform on people in their Muslim communities. The men claim the agents then placed or kept them on the list of people prevented from flying because they are considered a threat. They have since been removed from the list. 737
