in Hong Kong.CCTV's sports channel said Tuesday that it had "decided to immediately halt" broadcasts of the basketball league's preseason matches in China after it expressed its "strong dissatisfaction" over NBA Commissioner Adam Silver's response to Daryl Morey's tweet. The broadcaster is also reviewing its wider relationship with the NBA.Tencent, the NBA's exclusive digital partner in China, also said it would suspend live streaming for NBA preseason games in China. The controversy began when Morey tweeted his support for the demonstrations in Hong Kong over the weekend. His post, which has since been deleted, included an image that read, "Fight for freedom, stand with Hong Kong." The former British colony now controlled by China has been rocked by months of political unrest. Those remarks led several Chinese businesses to suspend ties with the Rockets, throwing that team's relationship with the country into doubt. That backlash triggered an initial response from the NBA on Monday. In a statement, the organization said that it recognized that Morey's views "have deeply offended many of our friends and fans in China, which is regrettable."But that statement, too, invited more criticism — this time from Americans. US politicians accused the NBA of kowtowing to Beijing to protect its financial interests. On Monday, Silver himself waded into the fray. He reportedly spoke to 1394
handed out to elementary students, stating that they intend to remove the image from the school's curriculum.Laura Lewis, the mother of a first-grader at London Elementary student, expressed her concerns over her daughter's homework. The assignment was a worksheet asking students to identify what "fat" is."I thought to myself, 'They are going to look at it, and then look over at my daughter and say this you, you're fat.' I don't want her to deal with that like I had to, cause it really hurts," Lewis said. The school system issued a press release stating that the page had been identified and the image had been "removed from the material." The school says textbook publishing company McGraw Hill created the assignment."We are currently reviewing the entire series for other images that could be a concern. In addition, we have sent this concern and related information to McGraw Hill Publishing and we will be discussing this concern with them," the district's statement read in part. This story was originally published by Melissa Ratliff on 1050

on Tuesday.A woman is in custody as the child's father said a driver abducted his daughter on Saturday evening in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania, according to police documents and a news release.Paul Johnson said he was riding in a car with Lyft and Uber stickers with his daughter and two friends, according to a criminal complaint filed by the Allegheny County police. The driver of the car was Sharena Nancy, a woman with whom Johnson was in the beginning of an "intermittent romantic relationship" with, Allegheny County Police Superintendent Coleman McDonough said at a press conference Tuesday. The couple became acquainted over social media in the past few months and spent several hours together with Johnson's daughter and another friend on Saturday, before an argument ensued while the woman was driving, McDonough said. While police did not elaborate on the details of the argument, McDonough said it was significant enough that Johnson and his other friend decided to exit the car.Johnson said that when he got out of the car and went to get his daughter out of the car seat, the driver drove away with the toddler, the complaint said.McDonough was joined at Tuesday's press conference by Taji Walsh, Nalani's grandmother, and FBI Special Agent in Charge Chad Yarbrough.Authorities and Nalani's family members were asking the public to contact them with tips."We miss Nalani. We want her home. If anyone has any info — it doesn't matter how big or how small — please call into the tip line," Walsh said.Johnson told detectives he tried calling the driver's cellphone multiple times, but she never picked up, so he called 911 around 5 p.m. ET.Police arrested driver Sharena Nancy, 25, in the vehicle during a traffic stop around 7:30 p.m. ET, but did not find the child inside, the complaint said.Nancy told detectives that Johnson sold the child to an individual for ,000 and asked her to complete the drop-off, according to the complaint.Nancy said he showed her a photo of a black woman she was supposed to meet and asked her to drive the toddler "20 minutes" from a gas station in Monroeville along US Route 22 to meet the woman, the complaint says.Nancy said she was told the woman would then "flag" her down and Nancy was to turn over the toddler, the complaint says.Nancy told detectives she encountered a silver SUV with out-of-state license plates parked on the side of the road and did as she had been instructed, passing the toddler and the car seat over to a woman standing next to the car and then driving off. Nancy told police she saw a second woman inside the SUV.Nancy said she then drove around, smoked cigarettes and talked on the phone with her husband, the complaint said.McDonough said Tuesday they have no evidence to corroborate Nancy's version of events, adding that Johnson and his family have been cooperative with the ongoing investigation.Nancy, who is being held without bail at the Allegheny County jail, was arraigned on Monday after being charged with kidnapping of a minor, interference with custody of children and concealment of whereabouts of a child. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 16.CNN was unable to identify or reach an attorney for Nancy.Nalani's grandmother, Taji Walsh, told 3247
You intended to harm him, but God intended it for good! To accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. You chose to think about yourself that day, what you were feeling and wanted to do to someone else. I’m sad you chose anger and hatred. Something really bad must have happened to you for you to want to do this to a sweet, innocent little boy. I’m sorry for whatever you’ve gone through. I hope God can save you and show you what His love is all about someday….want you to know I forgive you. Not because what you did was okay, not because I want to; but [because] God wants me to. I’m not letting you take any part of our family. You’re not taking our love, our joy, our peace; you’re not taking anything! I refuse to be full of anger and hatred, I refuse to let you take my joy. My sweet, precious baby, my amazing gift from God is going to be okay because Jesus loves him so much and he loves me so much. He answered my prayers and gave him back to me. You get to take nothing from us. You chose to listen to the Devil that day. I don’t get to judge you or hate you. Instead I am full of God’s love and I have overwhelming joy and peace in my body as I sit and watch my boy heal in miraculous ways right in from of my eyes. The whole world is seeing God move in this little boy that I get to call mine. The Devil tried to take him out, but GOD Saves. God ALWAYS wins! God will judge you someday and I have peace with that. I hand it off to him and you will take none of my thoughts EVER again, I am done with you. God, it is all in your hands. 1573
