SAFETY HARBOR, Fla. — One of the hottest new cleaning products in the country comes from the naughty minds of two Howard Stern Show all-stars now living in Safety Harbor, Florida. But sorry, we cannot tell you the product’s name here. No, really. The name is kind of dirty.Let's just say it rhymes with “mittens.” If you really want to know, search for “shmittens” on Amazon. We’ll wait...These glove-shaped moist wipes were created a few years ago by a very funny couple: Richie Wilson and Rachel Fine. At first, the wipes were the perfect, cheeky Christmas stocking stuffer. “The name is what opens the doors,” says Richie, who says you can use his invention for cleaning babies, dogs or even office desks. “But once you see the use behind it, you realize it’s more than a gag gift.”Indeed! The wipes have gone viral recently. They appeared on a National Geographic special as a favorite of the military. After that, UNILAD, Good Housekeeping, Redbook and Yahoo News all chimed in.“We have a lot of people who send them overseas to the military,” says Rachel. “They don’t have access to showers all the time. They’re covered in sand.”With millions of clicks, the whimsical wipes sold out. They are now available again on Amazon, retailing for about a pack. For Richie, who made his name on one of the most popular radio shows in the world, the must-have cleaning product is bringing him a whole new fan base. “When I was on the Stern show, I had a certain type of audience,” Richie says laughing. “Now I’m on mom blogs!” 1562

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 16-year-old boy suspected of stealing a vehicle and leading police in San Diego on a short pursuit was hospitalized Monday evening with a broken hip after being ejected or jumping from the vehicle and being run over before the Jeep struck a traffic signal pole.Officers received information about a 2019 Jeep Compass stolen from the 3800 block of Fairmount Avenue about 7:20 p.m. and spotted the vehicle speeding and attempted to stop it near 54th Street and University Avenue, according to Officer John Buttle of the San Diego Police Department. The driver fled southbound on 54th Street and ran red lights, prompting the pursuit to be terminated, Buttle said. The suspect continued southbound on 54th Street, crossed into the northbound lanes and crashed in the Chollas Creek area into a traffic signal, where he was either ejected or tried to get out of the Jeep before it stopped and was run over, pinning his arm under a tire, Buttle said.Firefighters freed the suspect from under the Jeep and he was taken to a hospital with a fractured hip.Two 16-year-old girls in the Jeep were taken to a hospital to be evaluated, Buttle said. 1161

SAN DIEGO — When it comes to takeout and delivery, breakfast food just doesn't really cut it.That's a problem for Johan Engman and his Rise and Shine Restaurant group, with the flagship Breakfast Republic."Imagine an eggs Benedict, a poached egg with hollandaise sauce. It doesn't travel that well," Engman said Tuesday.Sales are down more than 90 percent and 450 employees were just furloughed amid the lockdown."It's heartbreaking, but what makes it even worse is that we're in the holiday season," Engman said. But instead of simply giving up and hoping for another round of stimulus, Engman is keeping a couple extra workers on at Breakfast Republic's Mission Valley location - preparing what could turn into hundreds of free meals everyday for impacted workers or anyone in need - no questions asked."I mean, we're hemorrhaging money, but I think when the going gets tough, that's when you need to show character," Engman said. Two years ago, Rise and Shine Restaurants created a nonprofit that got a dollar for every sold breakfast burritos, one of the most popular items. That money has, for instance, been used to make thousand-dollar donations to other nonprofits nominated by customers. And during the march lockdown, the nonprofit bought ,000 worth of meals for the public - about 6,400, and it has about that much cash left this time."We have a little chunk of money there that we want to put to good use," Engman said. And while breakfast is in the name - it's not breakfast being served for free. Instead, it's comfort food - like meatloaf, chicken and lasagna. The meals are given out daily at Breakfast Republic's Mission Valley location, at 1570 Camino de la Reina, from 8 A.M. To 2 P.M. 1710

San Diegans are concerned about the opioid epidemic gripping the country. Law enforcement and other officials joined together to study what neighbors do with unused medications. In all, 3,280 people took the survey. The key findings: 240

SAN DIEGO — San Diegans can participate in AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine trial, which recently showed 90 percent effectiveness under a certain dosage.AstraZeneca announced Monday that its vaccine was 90 percent effective when participants started with a half dose, followed by a full dose at least four weeks later. It is currently seeking participants through UC San Diego Health and other partners for its ongoing trials. Full doses given four weeks apart were 62 percent effective in the trial. “These findings show that we have an effective vaccine that will save many lives," said Professor Andrew Pollard, Chief Investigator of the Oxford Vaccine Trial, in a statement released by AstraZeneca. "Excitingly, we’ve found that one of our dosing regimens may be around 90 percent effective and if this dosing regime is used, more people could be vaccinated with planned vaccine supply."Elana Godebu, a UC San Diego urologist, said she has seen the impacts of Coronavirus firsthand. She is currently practicing at El Centro Regional Medical Center, affiliated with UC San Diego. She says the center is filling up because of a rise in local cases and patients coming up from Mexico. The state recently built a 50-bed tent in the parking lot for non-Covid patients. Godebu got the first dose of the vaccine two weeks ago, which also could have been a placebo."Personally I've seen my friends and my colleagues and my patients, they've gotten sick, they've lost family, they've lost friends, and so we got the AstraZenica trial out in El Centro," she said. Godebu said she encourages anyone who has an opportunity to get the vaccine to take advantage. "If we try to get to herd immunity the other way we're going to lose so many people," she said. AstraZenica is the latest drugmaker to report strong efficacy. Earlier this month, Pfizer and Moderna said their trials were 95 percent effective. AstraZenica says its vaccine could separate from the others because it can be transported, handled and stored at regular refrigerated temperatures and administered in regular health care settings. 2099
