NINGBO, Zhejiang, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Internet of Things (IOT) -- which refers to digital networks of physical objects -- has huge potentials but many challenges lie ahead, said scientists, entrepreneurs and government officials on Sunday.IOT has become a catchword for those at the Information and Communication Technology and Urban Development Forum held in east China's coastal Ningbo this weekend on the sidelines of the Shanghai Expo; from ministers to mayors, scientists to entrepreneurs, keynote speakers to audiences.China should accelerate the development of the IOT industry so as to create a new platform for economic growth, said Li Yizhong, Minister of Industry and Information Technology in his opening speech to the forum.The first theme forum of the Shanghai World Expo is closed in Ningbo, a coastal city of east China's Zhejiang Province, May 16, 2010. BEIJING, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu on Saturday called for more concrete measures in quake relief efforts in response to the instructions of China's top leadership.Hui, also the head of the State Council's quake-relief headquarters, made the remarks at the sixth plenary meeting of the headquarters.China's top leadership on earlier Saturday has urged all-out efforts to rescue trapped people in the quake zone in northwestern Qinghai Province at a meeting chaired by Hu Jintao, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, and attended by other members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.Hui stressed a put-people-first principle in the relief work. Efforts to search for and rescue the buried survivors as well as offering medical treatment to the injured people are still the top priorities, Hui said.The relief work should be carried out in a scientific, orderly, effective and well-organized way, Hui said. BEIJING, April 17 (Xinhua) -- China is disappointed the European Union (EU) has decided to launch an anti-subsidy investigation into imported Chinese coated paper, Ministry of Commerce (MOC) spokesman Yao Jian said Saturday."China will closely follow this issue and reserves its right to take necessary measures in accordance with WTO rules," Yao said.He said the coated paper probe is the EU's first anti-subsidy investigation into Chinese products.The EU launched an anti-dumping investigation on Chinese coated paper two months ago, he said.Increased trade protectionism is a major threat to the world economy recovery, Yao said."To create a win-win situation, China and the EU should settle trade disputes cooperatively," he added.MOC data shows the EU initiated seven anti-dumping investigations against China in 2009.The EU is China's largest trade partner, with bilateral trade volume exceeding 360 billion U.S. dollars last year.
