SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A cyclist says he narrowly escaped injury after finding a camouflaged 'booby trap' on a popular trail along Lake Hodges.Steven Lennox made the discovery minutes into his bike ride Friday afternoon on a trail in the San Dieguito River Park. He was taking photos that afternoon, so he was going slower than normal and stopped when he saw the shadow on the ground."It was a shadow line all the way across. I looked up from there and I saw the ivy," said Lennox.But the ivy wasn't the only thing stretched across the trail. "As I got closer, I saw the rusty wire," said Lennox.In several photos he took, the ivy is seen intertwined with barbed wire and tied to a tree."Three to four loops ... had to weave it though. Somebody spent some time putting it together," said Lennox.The barbed wire appeared to be pulled from an old fence and camouflaged with a nearby vine."When you're being deceptive and hiding something, that's being cruel," said Lennox.The wire was strewn across at a height that would hit a cyclist in the chest or neck area."I don't think someone would have enough speed to cut their head off, but somebody could snap a neck," said Lennox.The discovery was made along a trail popular with cyclists, hikers and horseback riders. Rangers didn't find any similar hazards on the trail and tell us there haven't been any similar incidents in the past. YPSILANTI, Mich. — One entrepreneur thinks flying cars will one day change the way Americans travel — even though his creation almost cost him his life.Sanjay Dhall, the founder of Detroit Flying Car Company, is still recovering from a December crash at Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti. Dhall said he was testing out the controls in his flying car prototype when he accidentally took off and found himself 150 feet in the air.“It was a miraculous escape. I did break a lot of bones from head to toe,” Dhall said. “… But amazingly the machine took the majority of the impact and I survived.”The machine was destroyed.“One wrong calculation can mean the difference between life and death,” Dhall said. He says he now is more committed than ever to getting the technology right.“I still want to get back and build another prototype, a demonstrator vehicle that will succeed,” Dhall said.A study released this week by the University of Michigan motivates him. It found that for trips of about 60 miles and longer, a fully-loaded flying car carrying a pilot and three passengers had 52% lower greenhouse gas emissions and time savings compared to ground-based gasoline powered cars with an average vehicle occupancy of 1.54."Consumers could be incentivized to share trips, given the significant time savings from flying versus driving," The study's author, Akshat Kasliwal, said.The study found flying cars would travel the 60 miles much faster, resulting in a time savings of about 80 percent compared to cars driving on the road.When compared to electric cars, fully-loaded flying cars still had 6% lower greenhouse gas emissions on trips longer than 60 miles.“When flight happens, constraints are gone. And when constraints go away things have a way of going cleaner ways,” Dhall said.The study did find that on short trips, it is more efficient to stay on the ground.Dhall points out that his prototype features wings that retract into the vehicle, allowing travel by road or sky. In theory, he says it could be an overall greener way of traveling.He says he named his company in honor of the Detroit inventors who changed the way people around the world travel.He believes flying cars will do the same in the future. 2229

 A woman wielding a kitchen knife has attacked at least 14 children at a kindergarten in Chongqing in central China, local police said Friday.Chongqing City Banan District police said the children were slashed as they walked back to class after their morning exercises at Yudong New Century Kindergarten about 9.30 a.m. local time.Videos circulating on Chinese social media showed small children bleeding from severe cuts to their faces at the entrance of the kindergarten as stunned adults looked on.School security guards and staff restrained the 39-year-old attacker and took her into custody. Video from the scene appeared to show angry onlookers attempting to hit and kick the woman after she was detained.Chongqing resident Xia Yang said the attack had shocked residents of the city, a metropolis of some 30 million people.Nearby residents said the kindergarten doesn't have any outdoor space for the children, and they have to use a local public park for their morning exercises."It happened when the children were entering the school gate ... The attacker just ran at them with a knife. The teachers were dumbstruck," said Zhang Jing, who lives close to the school.He told CNN old people out shopping for groceries had intervened to stop the attack.An unknown number of students were taken to a nearby hospital following the incident, according to police.Video from the hospital showed adults wailing in grief as children covered in blood were rushed from ambulances into the building.
