LOS ANGLES (AP) — Authorities say former “Glee” star Naya Rivera is missing and being searched for at a Southern California lake.The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department late Wednesday confirmed that 33-year-old Rivera is the person being searched for in the waters of Lake Piru, which is approximately 56 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.The search for Nivera was temporarily called when it got dark, but it resumed Thursday morning. 448

The hotline is run by Election Protection, a coalition of lawyer's groups dedicated to voting rights.Voting logisticsIt's not uncommon for polling stations to see long lines on Election Day. But as long as a voter gets in line before that polling station closes, they have the right to vote. Even if there are still hundreds of people ahead of you in line as the polls are closing, stay in line — you will still be allowed to vote.Voters are also allowed to ask for a new ballot if they believe they've made a mistake. All voters should also be given the right to vote on a paper ballot if electronic machines are down.Registration issuesShould a poll worker tell you that you are not listed on a list of registered voters, take the following steps:Have the worker double-check the spelling of your nameAsk if there is a supplemental list of voters.Confirm you are at the correct polling station. If not, ask where your assigned polling station is and how to get there.If the poll worker cannot find your name, ask them to check a statewide system or contact your state's primary election office.Anyone still having issues voting can also vote provisionally. That means a voter can even cast their ballot, but state officials will need to confirm the registration before it is counted. If and when the state guarantees that the voter is registered, the vote is counted.In addition, many states allow voters to register on Eleciton Day. MANAGUA, Nicaragua — Hurricane Iota is moving across northern Nicaragua with hurricane strength winds of around 85 mph after making landfall as a dangerous Category 4 storm. Iota came ashore along almost exactly the same stretch of Nicaragua’s Caribbean coast that was devastated by an equally powerful Hurricane Eta just 13 days earlier. Iota had intensified into an extremely dangerous Category 5 storm during the day Monday, but the U.S. National Hurricane Center says it weakened slightly as it neared the coast late Monday and made landfall with maximum sustained winds of 155 mph (250 kph). Eta’s torrential rains saturated the soil in the region, meaning Iota's rains have nowhere to go and could cause deadly landslides.In their 7 a.m. update, the National Hurricane Center said Iota is expected to create "flash flooding, landslides, life-threatening storm surge and powerful winds across portions of Central America Tuesday."The NHC says Iota is moving west, further inland, and will move across Honduras Tuesday night into Wednesday. CNN reports that a deputy fired six rounds at Guardado. Investigators say they recovered an unregister semi-automatic pistol at the scene that included an illegal extended magazine loaded with live rounds.Guardado's family maintains that he was working as a security guard at the body shop at the time of the shooting, and added that they do not believe he owned a gun. But police officers claim that Guardado was not recognizable as a security guard because he did not have a uniform on and was not wearing a gun belt.California law also requires that security guards be at least 21 years old.Capt. Kent Wegener, the head of the department's Homicide Bureau, says investigators have taken six or seven exterior cameras from the scene of Thursday's shooting.
