According to a Tweet from a new bride, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg officiated the wedding of a family friend on Sunday.The photo is the first public sighting of the Supreme Court's oldest justice since the COVID-19 pandemic forced the high court to conduct business from home, NBC News reports.According to USA Today, Ginsburg presided over the wedding of Barb Solish and Danny Kazin on Sunday."2020 has been rough, but yesterday was Supreme," Solish wrote in a tweet, which included a photo of Ginsburg presiding over the ceremony.According to The Associated Press, a Supreme Court spokesperson said that Ginsburg is a family friend of one of the families and that the ceremony took place at a private residence. ALPINE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A man has died following a deputy-involved shooting in Alpine Monday afternoon.  The man's family later identified him as Daniel Ayala. According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, deputies shot Ayala at an apartment complex on the 2600 block of Alpine Boulevard around 3 p.m. during a confrontation.No deputies were injured, sheriff's officials said.According to Lt. Michael Blevins, dispatchers had received several 911 calls reporting a man yelling in the apartment complex. Blevins said at one point he made statements threatening to kill people. A witness told 10News, Ayala had pounded on his door, yelling incoherently.When deputies arrived they say they went up to Ayala's apartment."He exited the apartment with a knife in his hand and advanced towards the deputies," said Lt. Blevins.That's when the deputies opened fire. Blevins said more than one deputy fired a gun, though he said they were still investigating exactly who discharged their weapon and how many shots were fired. 1064

A woman claims she suffered a small cut on her finger from the nail salon she's been going to for more than a decade. Two weeks later, she found herself in the hospital having surgery due to a major infection, and there's a chance she may have to have her finger amputated. The image of Maria Luisa Gerardo's finger is extremely graphic — a wound that goes all the way down to the bone. "I cover my face when they come in here and take (the bandage) off because I don't wanna see it," said Gerardo. "I don't. I'm scared."Gerardo made her regular visit to TJ Nails, a place she's been going to for more than a decade, where they call her "Mama." But two weeks ago she claims she received a small cut on her finger. "A little open wound, here on the side of my finger," said Gerardo.A day later, her finger started swelling. Gerardo went to Urgent Care, where they put her on antibiotics.She went back to the nail salon, and she says they offered her 0."He told me, 'It's nothing. Just clean your hand and buy your medicine, and it will come off," said Gerardo. But it only got worse, and Gerardo had to go into surgery."Pretty excruciating to see," said Gerardo's son Victor. "I don't like to see my mom in pain."Victor was by his mom's side during the surgery and days following. "He cleaned as much as he could, to try and salvage the finger," said Victor. "He told me, he kept cutting and cutting the tissue around her finger until it bled, because that was good skin."Gerardo says a man named Bill was the technician who cut her nails that day. Employees at TJ Nails claim he no longer works at the salon and recently moved out of state.Bill said in a phone interview that he never cut Gerardo's nails and he knew her very well and did nothing wrong. Meantime, Gerardo is looking for answers and waiting to see if she will be able to keep her finger. "This is the only thing I ever liked doing to myself, my nails," said Gerardo. "But now, with this that happened to my hand, I never want to do this in my life."The family reported TJ Nails to the state. Adnan Syed, the subject of the groundbreaking true crime podcast Serial, has been granted to a new trial by the Maryland Court of Special Appeals, according to the Associated Press.In 2016, a Baltimore City Circuit Court vacated Syed's conviction in the murder of Hae Min Lee. The state then appealed the ruling. According to the Baltimore Sun, the state can still appeal to the Maryland Court of Appeals. It's unclear if the state will choose to do so.Syed was convicted of killing Hae Min Lee in 2000. Alabama teammates Mac Jones and DeVonta Smith, along with Clemson's Trevor Lawrence and Florida's Kyle Trask, have been named finalists for the Heisman Trophy.The Heisman will be awarded Jan. 5 during a virtual ceremony as the pandemic forced the cancellation of the usual trip to New York that for the presentation that usually comes with being a finalist.Jones and Smith are the eighth set of teammates to be finalists together since the tradition started in 1982.Smith is trying to become the first wide receiver to win the Heisman since 1991 when Desmond Howard took the award for Michigan.Smith leads the nation with 98 receptions and 1,511 receiving yards.Quarterbacks have been the favorite to win the Heisman, with 17 of them winning the coveted award since 2000.According to the Associated Press, Jones leads the nation with a 202.34 efficiency rating (202.34), has completed 76.5% of his throws, and averages 11.4 yards per pass with 32 touchdowns.If Jones or Smith wins the Heisman, they'll be Alabama's third Heisman winner.
