BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Ma Xiaoguang, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, has said that any "Taiwan independence" activities will be firmly opposed.
"It is not an additional premise, but reached by the two sides through communication and consultation," said Ma Xiaoguang, spokesperson for the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office, at a routine press conference.
"In this course we want to cultivate all the old friendships and cooperation and at the same time to launch new friendships... It is fortunate that our Chinese friends chose Greece as the first country to launch their dialogue with Europe," he said.
"The Chinese nation, once bullied and humiliated, is now well on the way toward great rejuvenation. The Chinese people, once short of food and clothing, are moving toward a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way," Li said.
Premier Li: I believe China and the United States should send a common message to the international community. Both of our two countries are strong supporters of the existing global trading regime. And we both believe that we need to advance trade liberalization and investment facilitation under the WTO framework. So China and the U.S. should work together with all other countries to send out a strong and common message. And I believe this will help prevent the anti-globalization trend from further evolving and help prevent the trade barriers and a beggar-thy-neighbor approach from emerging, so that they will not stand in the way of global economic recovery.
