SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Medical Board of California (MBC) has filed an order to revoke the license of Dr. Jeffrey Lovin, a San Diego County radiologist who’s facing charges related to prowling and peeking.ABC 10News first reported on Dr. Lovin last year after his ex-girlfriend shared home security video of a man lurking in her North County backyard while she and her fiancé were inside. She said the man in the video is Dr. Lovin.He’s been charged with multiple counts related to prowling and peeking and violating a protective order. He’s pleaded not guilty and will stand trial next March.Dr. Lovin was already on probation with the MBC for other criminal activity.The Board has now issued an order to revoke his license on Dec. 18 for mental or physical impairment and unprofessional conduct by failing to comply with the terms of his probation.“We never know if we're safe,” his ex-girlfriend told ABC 10News on Tuesday. We’re not using her name or showing her face. She said that she and her fiancé Frank Zeigler still live in fear. “I hear any noise at night and I'm out front seeing what's going on at my home,” he said and added, “We lock all our doors and keep all our blinds closed around the clock.”“We want him to lose his license so he doesn’t do this to anybody else and we feel like this is the first step toward a little justice,” Zeigler later added.On Tuesday, ABC 10News spoke to someone at the law office that has represented Dr. Lovin. She declined to connect us to with him to see if he wanted to offer any comment.On Tuesday, a spokesperson for the Board wrote to ABC 10News, “Dr. Jeffrey Lovin may practice medicine under the terms of his current probation until the revocation of his license takes effect on Dec. 18, 2020. Dr. Lovin may petition the Board for a stay and reconsideration of the decision to revoke his license or file a writ in superior court to challenge the decision before it comes effective.” 1945

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The mother of Rebecca Zahau testified Thursday in the second day of the civil lawsuit surrounding the Coronado mansion death.Rebecca Zahau died in July 2011. Her nude, bound body was found hanging from the balcony of the Spreckels mansion.The death was officially declared a suicide but Zahau's family disagreed. They filed a wrongful death civil lawsuit against Adam Shacknai, the brother of Zahau's boyfriend.Shacknai’s lawyers argue there is no physical, eyewitness, or scientific evidence linking him to Zahau’s death.Zahau's mother, Pari Zahau, took the witness stand Thursday morning and gave an emotional testimony as she was asked questions about her daughter.She remembered her as a sweet, loving and religious woman. The jury has three days off and will hear testimony again Monday.The family’s attorney Keith Greer handed Pari Zahau a piece of evidence and asked her to describe what it was.It was an envelope full of cash from Rebecca Zahau addressed to Pari Zahau and her late husband.Pari Zahau explained to the jury her daughter would support her financially by sending cash every month. That envelope was never sent, although one of the final times Pari Zahau talked to her daughter, she was told it would be on the way soon.Pari Zahau had to take a break from testifying when lawyer Keith Greer asked, “Did you ever think Rebecca would kill herself?”She gave a tearful response saying, “No. No, never. Never. My daughter? No. She is very sweet girl and she is very strong. No no, not suicide, they killed her.”After Pari Zahau broke down in tears, the lawyer asked for a brief break.The trial is expected to last a month. The Zahau’s family’s goal is to get the Sheriff’s Department to reopen a criminal investigation. 1802

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The beloved founder of the popular Roberto's Taco Shop chain which began in San Diego died last week, according to the company.Dolores Robledo, 90, died on July 14, the company said in a release. Robledo opened the first Roberto's Taco Shop — and San Diego's first taco shop — with her husband, Roberto, in 1964, according to the company. Prior to that, the couple started their food career providing tortillas to stores and restaurants from their San Ysidro tortilla factory."Since then, Sra. Dolores had been sharing her love for family and authenticity through each meal served," the company said in a release. "She has left the legacy of her love and perseverance. The way she touched lives will remain ongoing. Dolores Robledo will be deeply missed. Please keep her family in your thoughts as they go through this difficult time."Robledo was the mother to 13 children and had 39 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. In 1990, Roberto moved to Las Vegas and soon after decided to open his first taco shop in Las Vegas. With the help of her family, Roberto's expanded to 60 locations across California and Nevada.The Roberto's chain is believed to have started the variety of other eateries with the "berto's" suffix in San Diego. It's long-rumored that the famed California Burrito was created at one of these "berto's" shops, but which shop can claim that title continues to be debated.On Instagram, the company continued: "Sra. Dolores Robledo, founder of Roberto's Taco Shop, loved cooking good Mexican food for her family and friends. She and her family expressed that passion by opening their first Roberto's Taco Shop in San Diego in 1964. She will be missed but her legacy of cooking fine Mexican dishes will continue for generations to come."Visitation services for Robledo will be held at 4 p.m. on July 29 at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Sunday, doctors revealed President Donald Trump is taking a steroid, called Dexamethasone, as the latest medication for his coronavirus treatment."We just don't know what's going to happen next, things are very unpredictable," Dr. Christian Ramers, Chief of Population Health at Family Health Centers, said.Ramers has seen thousands of COVID-19 patients and says the disease has two phases, virus production and inflammatory. He said the shift generally happens seven to ten days in."Once things kind of shift, the damage actually comes more from the immune system's response than the virus itself," Ramers said, which is why a steroid like Dexamethasone is prescribed."Where it showed a decrease in mortality was in people who already required oxygen or if they were even sicker than that and were on ventilation," said Ramers, citing a study.Sunday, doctors stated the president received oxygen Friday before being taken to Walter Reed Medical Center, but said his oxygen levels only dipped to 94% and 93%. Normal levels are 95% and above.Ramers said studies show if you give the steroid too early or to someone who has a mild case, it could cause harm. "If you dial down the immune system too early or in a case that is really mild, you might have the opposite effect you're looking for," Ramers said.There's also a list of side effects."If you use them for a chronic basis or for more than a couple of days there is a long list of things it can cause.
