BEIJING, June 1 (Xinhua) -- China's central bank will push forward yuan settlement in cross-border trade and investment in the western Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Zhou Xiaochuan, governor of the People's Bank of China (PBOC), said Tuesday.Zhou said it was one of PBOC's important moves amid the central government's efforts to achieve leapfrog development and lasting stability in Xinjiang. BEIJING, May 21 (Xinhua) -- The growth of China's electronic products industrial value-added output topped 18.2 percent in April year on year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) said Friday.The rate was 1.3 percentage points lower compared with March, but the ministry did not give detailed figures in the statement posted on its website.The industrial value-added output of the sector rose 21.7 percent in the first four months year on year, the statement said.China's combined exports of electronic goods rose 24.4 percent in April year on year to 267.8 billion yuan (39.2 billion U.S. dollars).Exports of integrated circuits and color TV sets grew 64.4 percent and 54.6 percent, respectively, in the period.

CHANGSHA, May 13 (Xinhua) -- The body of an elderly man has been recovered from the debris of a landslide, bringing the death toll from rainstorms in central China's Hunan Province to 12, the Hunan flood-control and drought relief headquarters said Thursday.About 42,000 people were relocated to safe areas over the past day as the rainstorms lashed more than 280 townships in Hunan from 2 p.m. Wednesday, said a statement from the headquarters.The latest victim was a 72-year-old man who died in a rain-triggered landslide in Xupu County of Huaihua City, where four bridges collapsed and 68 roads were cut by flooding, said Zhou Shengqi, publicity officer of Xupu.  A strawberry field in Loudi, Central China's Hunan province is flooded on May 13, 2010. BEIJING, April 3 (Xinhua) -- China will launch a two-month campaign to inspect work safety nationwide on April 5, according to the work safety commission of the State Council, or the Cabinet.Serious accidents took place in succession in some areas and industries recently, which shows negligence and loopholes in work safety management and serious violations to laws and regulations, said a circular issued by the commission.The inspection would focus on work safety in mines, the chemical industry, transportation and fire-works mills, among others.The campaign would include self-examination by enterprises, government inspection and public supervision.Enterprises are required to complete self-examination in April and local governments to conduct inspection in May, while the commission would dispatch supervision teams to check their work.The nationwide campaign comes days after 153 coal miners were trapped in a flooded coal mine in north China's Shanxi Province, which will be China's worst mining disaster in more than two years if the miners cannot be saved.
