At a rally on Sunday, President Donald Trump said that he might fire Dr. Anthony Fauci, his administration's top infectious disease expert, shortly after Tuesday's election.At a rally in Opa-Locka, Florida on Sunday, supporters broke into a "Fire Fauci!" chant as Trump discussed the COVID-19 pandemic."Don't tell anyone, but let me wait 'til a little bit after the election," Trump said.The comments marked the first time that Trump has publicly indicated that he may fire Fauci, who has been the head of the National Institute for Allergies and Infectious Diseases since 1984.Fauci, a member of the White House's corornavirus task force, has consistently been the most plain-spoken Trump administration official when speaking about the challenges the country faces amid the pandemic.Trump has publicly criticized Fauci throughout the pandemic. In October, with COVID-19 cases on the rise, Trump tweeted an attack on Fauci. Days later, during a campaign call, Trump called Fauci a "disaster" and said he and other health experts were "idiots."Polling has shown that Americans consistently believe that they trust Fauci more than Trump when it comes to handling COVID-19.In the past, Fauci has implied that the White House has limited the number of media appearances he can make, and has also said an ad by the Trump campaign took him out of context. 1358

As we focus on getting kids safely back to school this year, Nashville-area builders are trying to figure out how to limit the impact of potential future pandemic years down the road, which may require permanently changing the look of new schools, offices, and hospitals."Yes, we are definitely seeing clients ask questions," said Matthew Griffith, an architect with Gould Turner Group."Things like the materials we specify, how cleanable they are, rounded corners in rooms and antimicrobial surfaces," Griffith said.Griffith says with the thought of a future pandemic in mind — segmented spaces could be the norm for new schools."I think you will see a big focus on true flexible space, have demountable partitions and movable walls to where it can be segmented or more individualized on an as-needed basis," Griffith said.And that idea extends beyond school buildings. Griffith says the same can apply to hospitals and other office spaces."I think it's going to be common in a lot of designs to have dedicated spaces for temperature checks and things of that nature," Griffith said.A large building's heating and cooling system will likely be a large focus, according to Griffith. Rather than circulating air throughout the whole building, individual units may be able to keep the air within smaller areas in case of an outbreak.Schools have been through similar kinds of building trends before. In the early 2000s, it was all about security and hindering active shooters. ATLANTA (AP) — Two more Atlanta police officers have been fired over an incident in which two college students were pulled from a car during a protest against police brutality.Atlanta police confirmed Wednesday that Sgt. Lonnie Hood and Officer Armon Jones were fired as a result of their involvement in the May 30 incident.Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and police Chief Erika Shields previously announced the firing of two other officers who were involved in the incident.Hood and Jones were among the officers caught on camera shouting at a young couple in a car in downtown traffic during the Black Lives Matter protests. The cops then proceeded to fire Tasers at the pair and dragged them from the vehicle.Throughout the incident, the man and woman can be heard screaming and asking what they did wrong.The four officers who have been fired and two other cops are facing criminal charges in connection with the altercation.Hood is charged with aggravated assault against both Young and Pilgrim for using a Taser against both of them, according to an arrest warrant obtained by The Associated Press. He is also charged with simple battery for violently pulling Pilgrim from the car and throwing her down on to the street, the warrant says.Jones is charged with aggravated battery for hurting Young’s left arm when he dragged him from the car and slammed him onto the street, the warrant says. He also is charged with pointing a gun at Young. Young suffered a fractured arm and a gash requiring two dozen stitches. 1529

BALTIMORE - Food safety experts are warning parents to be mindful when packing perishables like sandwiches and yogurts in your child's lunch.Tanya Brown with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) said you're looking at a two-hour window before those brown bag lunches become breeding grounds for bacteria.“You should not put perishable items like bologna sandwiches, turkey sandwiches, cheese or yogurt in a brown paper bag and send a child to school with it,” Brown said.Foods can hit the "danger zone," or temperatures between 40-140 degrees Fahrenheit, when it’s left out of refrigeration over two hours. After four hours, the food item should be tossed.“You want to make sure you put them in an insulated lunch bag with at least two cold sources and those two cold sources could be a frozen water bottle or frozen juice packs or gel packs in there. So, you want to put those perishable items in there and make sure the child does not open the bag and keep opening and closing the bag before lunchtime,” said Brown.If you're sending them with something hot, use a thermos, and warm it up first.“The best way to prepare it is to pour boiling hot water into the thermos first, then discard the hot water and then put the hot soup or stew in there. Make sure it's at 165 degrees Fahrenheit,” Brown said.However, the leading cause of sickness is poor hand washing.
