LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Oprah Winfrey is using her influence to push for justice in the police killing of Breonna Taylor.The media mogul is having dozens of billboards installed around the city of Louisville, WAVE reports. The 26-year-old emergency room technician and her boyfriend were in bed. After a brief exchange, Taylor’s boyfriend reportedly fired his gun and then police fired shots, striking Taylor at least eight times. She died in the apartment hallway.Since Taylor’s death, protests have been held across the country, demanding that the officers involved be charged in her killing. Many celebrities other than Oprah have also used their platforms to call for action.For now, the shooting is under investigation by the FBI and Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron. MENOMINEE, Wis. -- A pair of Wisconsin friends claimed a million lottery ticket together in June, all thanks to a deal they made in the 90s.Wisconsin Lottery says Thomas Cook and Joseph Feeney shook hands in 1992, agreeing that if one ever won a Powerball jackpot, they would split the winnings, regardless of who bought the ticket. Cook bought a winning ticket on June 10 and won a cool million."He called me and I said, 'are you jerking my bobber?'" Feeney told Wisconsin Lottery.Cook gave his two-week notice and has since retired. Feeney was already retired from an area fire department. MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio — Maple Heights Mayor Annette Blackwell believes northeast Ohio's shortage of affordable housing is having a tragic impact on the academic development of children. Blackwell told WEWS the affordable housing shortage is causing too many families to move from school district to school district and, in some cases, multiple moves are made in one school year.Blackwell said housing insecurity is playing a major factor in hindering the education of children, especially children from African-American families living in Cleveland and the inner-ring suburbs."It is an issue here in northeast Ohio, it is an issue here in the school district in Maple Heights," Blackwell said. "These children have to deal with the stress when they see their parents negotiating with the landlord, they see mom's rejection, they are part of that rejection when the application gets turned down, or the eviction notice comes.""All of these things add to the heightened sense of anxiety and stress.
