A woman in Illinois is warning others about the dangers of gel manicures claiming that the UV lamps at the nail salon gave her cancer.Karolina Jasko, 20, told WFLD that she was diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer. Jasko says that her doctor said it was most likely caused by getting her nails done at the nail salon. Specifically, Jasko claims the cancer was caused by the lamp that emits UVA rays to cure gel manicures.According to an unrelated report published by the American Academy?of Dermatology, UV exposure during gel manicures should be a concern for everyone, but especially for people who are highly sensitive to UV light. Chris G. Adigun, M.D., a board-certified dermatologist who specializes in nail disorders, says that although the UVA rays don’t burn the skin like UVB rays, they do penetrate the skin to damage DNA and collagen, which can lead to premature aging and may increase skin cancer risk. Dr. Adigun says that a common misconception people believe is that LED curing lamps provide a safer option at nail salons, however, those lamps also emit UVA light.“The UV dose that you receive during a gel manicure is brief, but it’s intense,” Dr. Adigun says. “Over time, this intense exposure can add up to cause skin damage.”In order to protect your skin, doctors urge customers that get gel manicures quite frequently to wear YouVeeShield. Amazon's search for the perfect home for its next headquarters could be leaning towards larger cities.Executives have visited some of the bigger names on the list of 20 finalists in recent months, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. They dropped in on New York City, Miami, Chicago and Newark, while possibly ghosting smaller or more suburban ares like Raleigh, North Carolina, and Montgomery County, Maryland.Amazon may have decided that a city is necessary for luring the best employees."The key for Amazon is that they want to build a second HQ that is an attractive place to live and work for young professionals. This is why quality of life in the city will matter," said Nathan Jensen, a professor of government at the University of Texas at Austin.Other than both being finalists for HQ2, places like Miami and Montgomery County don't have much in common. Miami is a cosmopolitan city that draws business and tourists from around the world. Montgomery County, located outside of Washington D.C. is less well known and lacks some of the splashier attractions of a warm city perched on the beach. Not getting Amazon could be a mixed blessing for the less urban locations. Absorbing up to 50,000 new workers would be a major undertaking, notes Jensen. And many of those would be high-wage positions, which could recreate some of the issues with soaring housing costs, income inequality and gentrification seen in Amazon's home base, Seattle, as well as other regions with major tech companies. The issues wouldn't be insurmountable."Unlike an unplanned expansion of the workforce, cities do have the ability to plan for this. This has been one of my disappointments in not seeing most cities HQ2 proposals. This is exactly the time when we, as a community, can thinking solutions to these challenges," said Jensen.Amazon has searched for a home for its second headquarters — nicknamed HQ2 — for more than a year. The company has whipped up suspense around the decision. It has cities competing with glossy proposals and tax cuts and Amazon watchers are eagerly looking for clues, and odds-makers are aking bets. The new facility would create 50,000 jobs and cost billion to build. After the company received 238 proposals, it selected 20 finalists cities and metropolitan areas in January. Amazon has said it will announce the winning city by end of the year. 2405

Amazon's sales outlook for the fourth quarter was the equivalent of a lump of coal in investors' stockings. Don't worry too much: Jeff Bezos could still deliver a holiday surprise.Shares of Amazon tumbled nearly 10% Friday because investors worried the company's holiday sales could be the worst in years.Amazon (AMZN) is the second-largest retailer in the country, trailing only Walmart (WMT) in annual sales. So a weaker holiday quarter for Amazon could be a bad sign for the overall economy. The Jeff Bezos-led company said Thursday it expected fourth quarter sales to be in a range of .5 billion and .5 billion. That's less than what was expected, and the .5 billion midpoint of this guidance is an increase of just 15% from a year ago.A sales jump of 15% may sound great, but it's pretty tepid for Amazon, which posted a revenue bump of 38% in last year's fourth quarter and increases of more than 20% in both the fourth quarters of 2015 and 2016.The last time Amazon reported a fourth quarter sales increase that was less than 20% was back in 2014, when revenue was up 14.6%. 1097

About 20,000 residents are under mandatory evacuation orders as a Southern California fire -- which authorities say was set intentionally -- spread this week. The Holy Fire started Monday in the Cleveland National Forest and has so far destroyed 12 structures, according to fire authorities.A man has been arrested in connection with the fire that is wreaking havoc near the border between Orange and Riverside counties, which are among the most populous counties in California. The Holy Fire has burned 6,200 acres and is 5% contained.Although it's not the largest fire burning in the state, there are growing concerns about how it could affect residential communities -- including Lake Elsinore. Some small communities in Riverside County are under mandatory evacuation orders affecting about 7,000 residential structures, according to authorities.Forrest Gordon Clark, 51, was being held at the Orange County Jail on Wednesday on suspicion of two counts of felony arson, a count of felony threat to terrorize and misdemeanor resisting arrest, the Cleveland National Forest said via Twitter. He is being held on million bail and expected in court on Thursday. The charges being leveled could carry a life sentence, said Susan Schroeder of the Orange County District Attorney's Office."Arson is a terrible crime that destroys dreams," she said in a press conference Wednesday.Witness statements, physical evidence and fire burn patterns connected the man to the fire, said Shane Sherwood with the Orange County Fire Authority.Volunteer Fire Chief Mike Milligan told the Orange County Register that Clark was screaming in the community and sent an email that said "this place will burn" last week. Before he was arrested, Clark told a cameraman he was asleep when the fire started and had no idea how it began."Who would go out with low humidity, and high wind and highest heat temperatures this time of year and intentionally set the forest on fire?" asked Orange County Supervisor Todd Spitzer during Wednesday's press conference. An excessive heat warning for the fire area has been issued with temperatures higher than 100 degrees."We know this district burns, but it should never burn because of an intentional act," Spitzer said. "This shouldn't be called the Holy Jim Fire, this should be called the Holy Hell Fire."Spitzer added that his constituents are "scared" and "fleeing their homes.""They're leaving property behind, they're putting everything they can in the back of their cars as quickly as possible."Fire officials warned residents to heed evacuation orders."Even if you're miles way, you want to be prepared if you're near the fire area or in an environment that can burn," said Thanh Nguyen with the SoCal Team One Fire Management Team, who suggested having a packed bag ready to go.  2814
