The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning from noon Thursday through 6 p.m. Friday for the inland valleys and mountains. East to northeast winds are expected to reach 20 to 30 miles per hour with gusts as high as 50 miles per hour and isolated gusts as high as 60 miles per hour. To make matters worse, humidity is expected to range between 5 and 10 percent with poor overnight recovery. If you would like to freeze avocado halves, remove the peel and pit, according to California Avocado. Brush the halves with lemon juice and wrap tightly in plastic wrap so no air gets through. Put the halves into a freezer-safe bag and press out the air. Although the wrapping method is effective, Cook’s Illustrated reports the texture may change when you thaw the avocado. Repairs to a majority of highways in the county are expected to be 90 to 100 percent completed three days after the storm.
