NATIONAL CITY (CNS) - Authorities Tuesday released the name of a man being sought on suspicion of fleeing the scene of a four-vehicle crash that killed another driver on Interstate 5 in National City last weekend.The crash on northbound I-5, south of Mile of Cars Way, happened around 4:50 a.m. Saturday, California Highway Patrol Officer Jake Sanchez said.A 2017 Toyota Tacoma pickup was traveling at high speed when the driver veered into the center median to pass a slower vehicle and struck a parked, unoccupied 1996 Nissan 200 coupe, Sanchez said.RELATED: Fatal National City crash shuts down northbound Interstate 5The pickup overturned after hitting the Nissan, which was pushed into the side of a passing vehicle, the officer said. The truck and the Nissan came to a stop blocking several traffic lanes.A 2003 Honda CRV then struck the Toyota, according to the CHP. MISSION BAY PARK (CNS) - A 36-year-old woman was hit by a car while riding her moped-style scooter in the Mission Bay Park neighborhood, authorities said today.She was cruising south on Ingraham Street around 1 p.m. Saturday when she took the Sunset Cliffs offramp, according to the San Diego Police Department.``A car tried to pass her on the left and collided with her, causing her to lose control,'' Officer Robert Heims said. ``She was ejected from the scooter.''The woman suffered a pelvic fracture, a broken tooth and multiple abrasions, he said. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life- threatening injuries.Police haven't identified any witnesses. Now, they account for about 10 patients a day, which is half her daily caseload.The patients can be broken into three categories. Some people are seeing a sudden onset of hair loss. Others have a known disease, like psoriasis or alopecia, and are now seeing flare ups. Both of those are attributed to added stress.Then, there's the patients who have had COVID-19 and are seeing shedding afterwards. That's not necessarily a direct result of the virus. It could be from the toll on the body.Patients who have recovered from other viral diseases have also experienced hair loss afterwards.“So, just the process of being sick, having a high fever, not eating well, those can be a shock to your system that can trigger hair shedding,” said Dr. Melissa Piliang, a dermatologist at the Cleveland Clinic.Hair loss patients who have had COVID-19 will have to work through their own recovery process. National leaders are launching an investigation into nursing homes and how they are handling the coronavirus crisis, specifically asking how they spent federal funds during the pandemic and their efforts to prevent further infections.Letters seeking information were sent to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the federal agency that oversees nursing homes, as well as the five largest for-profit nursing home companies in the country.
