Target’s include a 10% employee discount, 20% off healthy foods like fruits and vegetables, and an hour, which is above the state minimum wage. After a morning of paperwork and interviews, Gonzalez found out she got the job.With the popularity of online shopping warehouses and shipping centers are hiring seasonal workers as well. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Surveillance footage captured a man attacking a gas station customer in Kearny Mesa before fleeing.A 54-year-old man was paying for his coffee at the Mobil station at 8380 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. on Saturday just after 3 p.m., when the suspect began speaking to the man. Police said the suspect was not making any sense when he was speaking to the victim.Then for no reason, the man pulled a small wooden bat from a tool bag and began to hit the victim on the back of his head. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Termed-out San Diego City Councilman Scott Sherman is taking aim at what he says is too much outside influence behind the scenes at City Hall.In an interview with ABC 10News, Sherman said too many of his colleagues vote based on their own political preservation."Unfortunately, too many politicians are looking down the road and at what office they are going to run for next," Sherman said. In a recent op-ed, Sherman said in politics he has learned that handshakes and signed memos are worth a "bucket of spit." He said political gadflies, union reps, party reps and political donors are wielding too much power of council members. Sherman believes this is the reason the city still has not come to an agreement on regulating short-term rentals, and is approving labor-friendly development projects."One of the things that bothered me the most in politics is how different special interest groups can literally come down, sit in the front row, and dictate to council members what they will and won't do if they want their support in the future, and unfortunately most of them do," Sherman said. Sherman said he is the exception because he did not base his council career on a run for higher office. He did run for mayor in 2020, losing in the primary. But he said chose to run because of encouragement, and because no other Republican entered the race. Michael Zucchet, who heads the city's Municipal Employees Association, said Sherman and other politicians generally define "special interests" as those that disagree with them. "I wasn't very moved by his comments and they struck me as sour grapes," Zucchet said in an email. "It seems like pure hypocrisy to me. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Climate Prediction Center released the final El Ni?o advisory for 2019, which means El Ni?o is over and now we are in a neutral phase with a 55 percent chance of continuing into winter.So what does that mean for the rest of summer and, most importantly, San Diego's winter? In order to put this in perspective, let’s review what this seasonal change means.San Diegans typically associate El Ni?o with a wet winter, or more rain and a better water supply. However, El Ni?o is more than that.The National Weather Service defines El Ni?o as a recurring climate pattern involving changes in the central and eastern tropical Pacific Ocean. Warm and cool changes are associated with the ENSO cycle. El Ni?o and La Ni?a are extreme phases of the ENSO cycle, but there is a third phase, less well known, called the ENSO neutral. That third phase is where San Diego is headed for the rest of the year and possibly through the winter months. El Ni?o and La Ni?a have a greater impact during the winter months. La Ni?a doesn’t do much for winters in California; it typically keeps San Diego dry and warm. The opposite happens during El Ni?o, which explains why it’s so much more popular. El Ni?o brings an active Jet and more frequent storms, reducing our drought and helping our water supply, with cold driven storms and snow for the Sierra Nevada mountains. The neutral phase is where San Diego is headed this fall with a 55 percent chance of it sticking around through the winter. The ENSO neutral phase is neither cold like La Ni?a nor warm like El Ni?o. The ENSO neutral phase is associated with sea surface temperatures closer to average, and stronger winds near the equator. It typically keeps the coldest air over the Northeast, warmer temperatures through the southern portion of the country, and wetter through the Midwest and Northeast.The ENSO Neutral typically keeps San Diego warm and dry. The extended forecast calls for above-normal temperatures for the remainder of the summer and near normal rain, which means dry since we are usually dry during those months.The winter outlook also brings near to slightly above normal temperatures. Rainfall will average near normal. San Diego's rainy season begins in November and lasts through March, sometimes lasting through April. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The man accused of assaulting a Pacific Beach woman while she slept in her own home was in court for the first time on Monday. Jeffrey Hanze pleaded not guilty to the charges, which include sexual assault during a burglary. The 55-year-old was arrested in L.A. County on October 29th for the crime. Police say Hanze broke into a home in Pacific Beach on October 1st, getting in through an open window, then assaulting a woman while she slept. The woman woke up to the assault and Hanze got away.On Monday, the judge agreed to increase his bail from 0,000 to a million dollars and issued a protective order for the victim. A background check shows Hanze has a criminal record, including two felonies in San Diego County and several sex crimes dating back to 2011 in Arizona. Hanze is due in court again on November 15th.    913
