SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are warning parents in the Carmel Valley area after a man reportedly exposed himself to students walking to school Tuesday.Police say a man was in the passenger side of a parked car on Carmel Creek Road, and exposed and touched himself inappropriately with the car door open. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego leaders say they are working to help prepare the county's homeless population to protect themselves from the coronavirus.An outreach team has been busy installing hand washing stations across San Diego to address the virus concerns as it affects those experiencing homelessness. Team members have been helping individuals protect themselves against the virus by passing out hygiene kits that include hand sanitizer, info on symptoms, water, soap, tissues, and hand wipes.Nurses have also started to visit San Diego shelters to help prepare those staying there, especially those suffering from underlying medical conditions or who are older. Leaders say nurses are prepared to be on site to assist with screening potential patients and identify potential housing options if they need to be moved for care. Potential options include motels, government buidlings or facilities, or tents, according to leaders.According to the county, medical professionals are on high alert for any possible local outbreak. Currently, one person has been confirmed to have coronavirus. That patient is said to be doing well. Leaders added that there is no evidence of "community-based transmission" in San Diego.Those who are testing in San Diego County must do so through a primary doctor. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Residents at Aquatera Apartments in Mission Valley say they are upset about how managers handled notifying them about a violent attack in their complex. Many residents saw police cars parked at Aquatera for much of the day on Sept. 4. An email from the management company was not sent notifying residents until Monday.Aquatera spokesperson Margie Newman confirms to 10News that a resident was assaulted on the premises. She says the resident went to Aquatera staff for help. Staff immediately called police. Newman says a suspect was arrested within the hour. Because the threat to residents was ended so quickly, the decision was made to gather more information before notifying other residents. "Our team simply wanted to get it right. The threat was passed. The perpetrator was caught within the hour, so we wanted to make sure that what we were sharing was the most accurate information," Newman said.Several residents told 10News they asked Aquatera staff what had happened and were not given answers. Monday, a resident checked the Crimemapping.com website, which aggregates police report data from the San Diego Police Department. It listed a rape at the Aquatera address at noon on the 4th. The resident contacted Aquatera management to ask why residents hadn't been notified about a sexual assault five days prior. A few hours later is when the email went out to residents, saying an assault had taken place and an arrest made. The email also listed a number of steps residents could take to increase their personal safety."It's disturbing that it took five days, especially when our safety is concerned. Very disturbing," said a resident who identified herself as Lisa. "My husband is now in charge of walking the dogs at night. I have mace that I actually bought today. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer and community leaders broke ground Tuesday on a Mission Bay park makeover in honor of a woman who died serving her community. Maruta Gardner was struck and killed by a DUI driver in 2016 while she was removing graffiti. The park in Bonita Cove is being named in her honor and receive a “much-needed makeover” for the playground, city officials say. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police announced Wednesday the arrests of two young men on suspicion of burglaries in Scripps Ranch and La Mesa.Joshua Guillen, 22, and Daniel Gomez, 18, were identified through photo recognition and D.N.A. evidence, police said.The Scripps Ranch burglary happened at a home on Red Cedar Dr. in May. 10News spoke with the homeowner, Bob Arban, who said he received an alert on his phone, indicating someone inside his home.RELATED: Owner watches burglary live on surveillance cameraSeveral items were stolen before police arrived.  Arban's home surveillance video was used to track down the suspects.Police said Guillen and Gomez were also identified in another residential burglary in La Mesa.  762
