LOS ANGELES (KGTV/CNS) - A person infected with measles passed through Los Angeles International Airport twice in late May and public health officials are urging anyone who may have been exposed to check their immunization records and report any possible symptoms.According to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, the infected person -- who does not live in the area -- passed through LAX twice during the Memorial Day weekend.Possibly exposure may have occurred:-- between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. May 26 at LAX Terminal 4 at Gate 48B; and-- between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. May 28 at the Tom Bradley International Terminal Remote Gate.Health officials noted that anyone who may have been in those areas may be at risk of developing measles for up to 21 days following exposure.People who think they may have been exposed were urged to check their immunization history and contact their health care provider by phone, particularly if they are pregnant or have a weakened immune system. People who develop possible symptoms, such as illness with fever or an unexplained rash, should stay home and call their health care provider.Southern California doctors have been warning the region to watch out for the illness as cases increase across the U.S. this year. In May, CDC officials said the U.S. had already seen its highest amount of measles cases in three decades. In SoCal, San Diego and Los Angeles have been considered high-risk counties for measles cases."Measles is preventable and the way to end this outbreak is to ensure that all children and adults who can get vaccinated, do get vaccinated. Again, I want to reassure parents that vaccines are safe, they do not cause autism. The greater danger is the disease that vaccination prevents," said CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield.Measles was eliminated in the U.S. in 2000, meaning it was no longer continuously transmitted. So far this year, at least 26 states have seen cases. 1951

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The pilot of a helicopter that crashed into a Southern California hillside, killing Kobe Bryant and eight others, was reprimanded five years ago for flying without permission into airspace while he had reduced visibility. A Federal Aviation Administration enforcement record says Ara Zaboyan was counseled in 2015 after he strayed into Los Angeles International Airport space after being denied permission to cross because of reduced visibility. The FAA record says Zobayan admitted and took responsibility for the error. RELATED: NTSB: Helicopter was 20-30 feet from clearing mountainReporter suspended for inaccurate Bryant reportingWreckage of helicopter crash moved to ArizonaZaboyan, Bryant, Bryant's daughter and six others died last month when their helicopter hit a hillside northwest of Los Angeles in cloudy weather. The NTSB said it could take as many as 18 months to issue its full report. In the agency's initial findings, investigators say the helicopter came about 20 to 30 feet from avoiding the mountain, but descended rapidly about 2,000 feet per minute, from 2,300 feet to 1,085 feet above sea level. In 2004, the NTSB recommended to the FAA that all helicopters be equipped with a Terrain Awareness and Warning System, but the FAA has yet to follow the recommendation, according to California Rep. Brad Sherman. 1357

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A judge has denied a request from Britney Spears to end her father’s conservatorship over her estate, though the pop star did score small victories in the case.Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny declined to suspend James “Jamie” Spears from his central role in the court conservatorship, but said she would consider future petitions for his suspension or outright removal, The Associated Press reports.Spears’ attorney, Samuel D. Ingham III, said he plans to file those petitions. The judge also approved a request from Spears for a corporate fiduciary, the Bessemer Trust, to now serve as co-conservator with her father.During Tuesday’s contentious court hearing, Ingham said his client fears her father and won’t resume her career as long as he has power over it. The 38-year-old singer has been on a hiatus since early 2019.A lawyer for Spears’ father argued during the hearing that he has been an excellent conservator and has taken his daughter from being in debt to being worth more than million.Spears’ conservatorship has been in place since 2008, when the star experienced mental health issues and her public meltdowns were widely reported on. Since then, however, she has made a comeback in her career and held a residency in Las Vegas.Legal experts told the Los Angeles Times that it’s unusual for someone as young and productive as Spears to be in this type of situation for so long and that conservatorships like these are usually used to protect the old, infirm or mentally disabled. The L.A. Times reports that another hearing in the case is set for Dec. 16. 1616
