BEIJING, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday sent a congratulatory message to incumbent Uzbek President Islam Karimov on his reelection as the head of state of the Central Asian nation.
Specific measures were outlined. Trial reductions of import tariffs on certain goods that have high domestic demand should be rolled out before June, and the varieties of imports that enjoy tax reductions will be gradually expanded.
Cheng said the visit highlights the high level of trust between the two countries, and that Xi and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev "will jointly lay down a blueprint for mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, including the joint construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt and cooperation on big projects."
Prior to the meeting, the two presidents visited the museum, where a special exhibition was being held to mark the two countries' friendship forged in WWII.
Both sides aim to double the annual trade volume to 500 billion dollars in ten years and China has promised to increase investment in the region to 250 billion dollars during the same period.
