The storm was positioned 785 miles from Hilo, or 985 miles from Honolulu.Douglas is relatively small, with hurricane-force winds only extending 25 miles from the center.While the powerful hurricane is in the open ocean, it has been slowly losing strength. The National Hurricane Center projects it will weaken into a tropical storm by Sunday night. But the storm could still be a hurricane when it crosses the island chain, which would make it the first hurricane to directly hit the island in more than two decades.Category 4 Iniki of 1992. was the most recent hurricane to strike Hawaii directly. (KGTV) — Border Patrol officers in the South Bay made a spicy discovery in a shipment of peppers this week.Customs and Border Protection officers stopped a 37-year-old Mexican national enterting through the Otay Mesa Port of Entry in a tractor pulling a trailer of cargo. The cargo listed jalape?o peppers on the manifest.Upon secondary inspection, a canine team alerted agents to the shipment. Officer say they discovered 314 large, wrapped packages of marijuana, weighing about 7,560 pounds. The narcotics are valued at .3 million.“I am proud of the officers for seizing this significant marijuana load,” said Otay Mesa Port Director, Rosa Hernandez. “Not only did they prevent the drugs from reaching our community, they also prevented millions of dollars of potential profit from making it into the hands of a transnational criminal organization.”The seizure followed another massive bust on Aug. 13, in which officers discovered 10,642 pounds of marijuana concealed in a shipment of plastic auto parts at the same cargo facility. 1063

(KGTV) -- Thursday, the world’s first autonomous robotic kitchen assistant, Flippy, made its debut.Flippy will begin working alongside kitchen staff at CaliBurger’s Pasadena location.Flippy will, of course, be flipping burger patties and removing them from the grill.The robotic arm was created by Miso Robotics, a company that specializes in robotics and artificial intelligence solutions.The company also developed Miso AI, a cloud-connected learning platform that powers the robotic arms.The technology can detect when the raw burger patties are places on the grill and monitors each one as it cooks.Miso AI displays cooking time and alerts staff when it’s time to place the cheese on top of the patty or dress the burger. 755
