The suspect in the shooting deaths of two people at Central Michigan University is in custody, police reported early Saturday. Police spent most of Friday searching for a 19-year-old person of interest after two people were shot and killed on the campus of Central Michigan University on Friday. Scripps station WXYZ in Detroit is reporting that the victims are the suspect's parents.James Eric Davis Jr. is the suspect in the deaths of his parents James Davis Sr. and his wife, Diva Davis. Davis Sr. is a part-time police officer in Illinois in Chicago. Police later confirmed the identities of the victims.  652

The Smithsonian announced the reopening of two prominent Washington, D.C., area attractions that have been shuttered during the spread of the coronavirus.The National Zoo located in Washington and the National Air and Space Museum in nearby Chantilly, Virginia, are scheduled to reopen Friday with a number of safety precautions in place. All other Smithsonian attractions will remain closed. Most other prominent D.C. destinations, including the White House and Capitol, also remain closed to visitors.Both at the zoo and the National Air and Space Museum, all visitors age 6 and over will be required to wear face coverings. The Seattle Seahawks postponed a workout with free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick after Kaepernick declined to stop kneeling during the national anthem, ESPN reports.According to ESPN, the Seahawks contacted the former 49ers quarterback two weeks ago to arrange a workout. However, the meeting was canceled at the last minute over the constroversial protest.Kaepernick began kneeling for the national anthem during the 2016 preseason, saying he was hoping to bring attention to police brutality. He continued his protest through the 2016 season, and his contract with the 49ers was not extended following the season.Kaepernick has not played since the 2016, though he is still a free agent and can be signed by any team. In October, Kaepernick filed a grievance against the NFL alleging the owners colluded to blackball him from the league. He was deposed by the league in connection with his complaint earlier this week.Kaepernick's former teammate and fellow free agent Eric Reid was also reportedly asked by Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown about kneeling during the anthem during a workout with the team. The Republican Party announced tonight that President Donald Trump will accept the GOP nomination for president in Jacksonville, Florida. The convention was originally planned for Charlotte, North Carolina.The party could not receive assurances from North Carolina's Democratic governor that a ban on mass gatherings would not be lifted in time for the convention. North Carolina, like a number of other states, have limited mass public gathering during the spread of COVID-19.“We are thrilled to hold @realDonaldTrump 's acceptance of the Republican nomination in the great city of Jacksonville!” GOP chairperson Ronna McDaniel tweeted. “Not only is Florida his home state, it is crucial to victory.
