SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - One of the top brass at the San Diego Sheriff’s Department is facing an allegation of inappropriate conduct, Team 10 confirmed.A San Diego Sheriff’s spokesperson confirmed that Assistant Sheriff Rich Miller received a complaint and released this statement to Team 10:"The Department has received a complaint alleging inappropriate conduct by Mr. Miller. The San Diego County Sheriff's Department takes all allegations of misconduct very seriously.  As a result, an investigation is underway.  Mr. Miller is currently using accumulated leave time until his planned retirement date.  We cannot comment further based on the pending investigation." 686

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - On this holiday, some extra thanks for a Clairemont family, months after an expectant mother was placed on a ventilator from COVID-19."This Thanksgiving, I’m thankful to be here with my family," said Ashley Duque.That family includes Ashley, her husband Diego, their daughter Anna, 3, and the newest addition, three-month-old Lucas."He came out our miracle baby," said Ashley.The miracle emerged from a pandemic. In March, 17 weeks into her pregnancy, Ashley was hospitalized with coronavirus, before being placed on a ventilator for five days."It was very, very scary," said Ashley.She spoke to ABC 10News from her hospital bed while recovering. Ashley was discharged after more than two weeks, but she would be back for nine different surgeries from complications from the COVID-19 treatment.Most of the surgeries involved removing scar tissue in her throat caused by her time on the ventilator.Then in August, Ashley was back in the hospital, as she went into labor three weeks early."I was nervous and scared," said Ashley.Despite her COVID battle and her other health issues, Lucas Duque was born August 25, weighing 6 pounds, 6 ounces. He was healthy."We’re just very blessed that nothing happened to him," said Ashley.On this Thanksgiving holiday, there is a mix of emotions. Ashley is still having issues with the scar tissue, but Ashley and Diego are feeling an overwhelming feeling of gratitude."In a flip of coin, anything can happen. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - One person was shot and killed Friday at the Linda Vista Recreation Center, San Diego Police said.The shooting happened about 5 p.m. at the facility at 7064 Levant St., near the intersection of Linda Vista Road and Genesee Avenue.A witness told 10News he heard the shots and saw a teenager with a gunshot wound to the chest and someone performing CPR.RELATED: 17-year-old shot during Linda Vista drive-by shootingVideo from Sky10 showed police tape blocking off part of the parking lot near the tennis courts and officers with flashlights on the area's walkways.No information was immediately available about the shooter.Bystanders said this type of violence is happening at least once a month and blamed homeless people and gangs.This is the fourth shooting since May in Linda Vista. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police are searching for a sexual assault suspect who forced a woman into his truck and drove to another area to assault her this week.The suspect drove alongside the 27-year-old woman in the 3900 block of Delta Street just before 11:30 p.m. Thursday, San Diego Police said. The man exited the truck and threatened to use a Taser on the woman if she didn't comply with his demands.Police said he forced the woman into his truck, drove to an unknown area near 39th St. and Broadway, and sexually assaulted the woman. He then drove to the area of 32nd St. and National Ave. and let the woman go after she pleaded with him, police said.The man is described as a black male between 40- and 50-years-old, with short black hair, and a graying goatee. He weighs an estimated 160 to 170 pounds and stands about 5-foot, 6-inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black or dark blue t-shirt and gray basketball shorts.The man's vehicle is described as an older model white extended-cab pickup truck, possibly with a blue stripe on the side.Chula Vista Police reported a similar incident with a similarly described suspect and vehicle happened in their area. Video captured the vehicle in the vicinity of the E St. trolley station in Chula Vista.
