(KGTV) -- A small plane was forced to land on a freeway in San Clemente Monday, but no injuries were reported and no vehicles were hit.According to the California Highway Patrol, the emergency landing was reported shortly before 12:50 p.m. on southbound Interstate 5 near Basilone Road, north of Camp Pendleton.CHP officials said the pilot was flying from John Wayne Airport in Orange County to San Diego’s Montgomery Field when his plane began having mechanical issues while over Camp Pendleton.The pilot, who has 18 years of flying experience, was aware he needed to land immediately and considered Highway 101 [Old Pacific Highway parallel to I-5] as an emergency landing spot before choosing I-5, according to the CHP.The pilot was able to wait for a break in vehicles before guiding the aircraft safely onto the freeway. The plane landed and came to a stop on the No. 4 lane before it was eventually moved to the right shoulder.The aircraft remained on the shoulder and off the freeway lanes as of 2:20 p.m.The pilot, who was the aircraft's only occupant, was unhurt, an FAA official told ABC 10News. (KGTV) — As of Jan. 1, 2020, Californians won't have to pay sales tax on diapers or menstrual products for two years.The temporary ban is thanks to Senate Bull 92, which was signed into law by Gov. (KGTV) -- A woman traveling with her daughter was arrested after Border Patrol agents found nearly 30 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in her car.The arrest and seizure occurred July 21 during a traffic stop on northbound Interstate 5 in San Clemente, Customs and Border Protection officials said.According to CBP officials, an agent patrolling the area stopped a 2003 Honda Accord and asked the 38-year-old female driver for permission to search the car.After obtaining permission, the agent’s K-9 was alerted to something, prompting an in-depth inspection. The agent then found 28 bundles of meth inside the Accord’s gas tank.CBP officials said the bundles, weighing a total of 28.88 pounds, all tested positive for methamphetamine. The drugs were turned over to the DEA, and Border Patrol agents seized the car.Agents arrested the woman, a U.S. citizen; her six-year-old daughter was placed with child protective services. 933

(KGTV) - Caltrans announced freeway closures on I-5, I-15 and SR-163 to do road work this month.SR-163State Route 163 will have closures in Mission Valley starting Monday night. Residents and businesses may hear jackhammering and truck back-up alarms.All lanes of north 163 will be closed between I-8 and Genessee Avenue Monday, Tuesday and possibly Wednesday nights 11:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.The Genessee on-ramp to north 163 will remain open. Other drivers will be detoured to I-8 and I-805. INTERSTATE 15I-15 will be closed at SR-76 in Escondido during daytime hours Tuesday.
