LOS ANGLES (CNS) - The FBI Friday released a more specific location of that person wearing a jet pack spotted in the air by pilots just west of the Long Beach (710) Freeway in the Cudahy and South Gate areas.The pilot of American Airlines flight 1997 radioed the LAX tower Sunday evening to make the unusual report of somebody apparently flying at about 3,000 feet with a jet pack.The FBI released a map with the location of the pilot and advised, "Anyone with info about activity on or above the ground at the location depicted here should call the FBI." 563

MACOMB COUNTY, Michigan — Ever since WXYZ television station did a segment about a mother who says she’s an adoption worker, but she isn’t licensed by the state of Michigan, families have been calling, emailing and reaching out on social media to share their heartbreaking stories. Now we've obtained new documents that show the same baby was promised to more than one family; both families paid thousands of dollars for the alleged adoption "services."One of those families is the Markley family. Stacey Markley says she’s having a really tough week: the baby boy that her family was supposed to adopt was allegedly due on Sunday. But now she doesn’t even know if that baby ever existed, and she wants some answers.Tara Lynn Lee promotes herself online as an adoption worker. But the 37-year-old from New Haven, Mich. is not a licensed adoption worker in Michigan and state officials tell us the companies and nonprofits she’s associated with are not licensed either.Lee’s home was raided by the FBI in November.Several sources close to the investigation say Lee is under scrutiny for allegedly promising the same baby to more than one potential adoptive family at a time.“We were so prepared for this baby, everybody was excited for us. And then just to turn around and have nothing, to this day it’s still hard for me,” said Markley from her home in Ohio.Markley says she and her husband hired Lee to help them adopt a baby boy. She says based on the contract they signed, they were paying Lee to care for the birth mother who had “matched” with them. Now Markley isn’t sure if there ever was an actual birth mom or a baby.“It’s heartbreaking because I’m surrounded by all this baby stuff and it doesn’t have an owner,” Markley said.Markley says Lee’s stories about the birth mother never added up.“It was constant, for the two months that we were matched with her, it was – ‘oh, we didn’t meet up, she canceled, I canceled – I had to go deliver a baby.’ So it’s like we never got word of how anything was going,” Markley said.Markley says Lee had them sign a contract, and they handed over ,000 when they “matched” with the birth mother. But when they asked for additional proof of pregnancy, Markley says, they didn’t get it.“I knew in my heart that day that that was going to be the end of it — we weren’t going to be going forward with this, and we weren’t going to be matched anymore. I called my mom crying that day,” she said.She says after a lot of fighting they eventually got about ,000 back. Lee’s paperwork shows she kept 24.75 for expenses.Lee’s contract from July states that “TL Pregnancy Services is a licensed counseling and adoption education center," but state licensing officials confirm Lee is not a licensed counselor.After Markley spoke to WXYZ, we discovered what appears to be a second contract for another couple in a different state. The contracts are dated two weeks apart:  both promising a baby born 12/9/18 from what appears to be the same birth mother named “Tracy.”Meanwhile, Lee’s attorney says she has been cooperating with the FBI probe.“I do know that the government is investigating, and that’s their job, and they could do their due process and do their due diligence, but as it stands today we have heard nothing. To the extent that they’ve asked us for information, she’s been in full compliance,” said Sanford Schulman.Schulman also told WXYZ in an email that, “Always Hope has never claimed to be a licensed agency and this is explicitly noted in every contract. Always Hope provides support for expectant mothers who choose adoption. Every stage was overseen by qualified attorneys who could be consulted throughout the process.”But when WXYZ pointed out that the contract was with TL Pregnancy Services that claimed to be licensed, Schulman seemed unaware of the claims Lee made in her contract. There is no record of a company called TL Pregnancy Services with the state of Michigan.As we reported last week, state records show, prior to 2016, Lee ran something called Always Hope Pregnancy Center LLC. Lee is also connected to the Always Hope Pregnancy and Education Center Inc. in Jacksonville, Florida.Lee is listed as a director on a nonprofit called Always Hope Adoption and Family Services, Inc. in Sterling Heights, Michigan. State officials tell us that organization and Lee are both now under investigation by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and neither is licensed to handle adoptions.The FBI investigation is still underway into Lee. MALIBU (CNS) - The Woolsey Fire that has burned more than 85,500 acres, destroyed at least 177 homes and forced the evacuation of more than 265,000 people in Los Angeles and Ventura counties is also mobilizing the local animal rescue community, as volunteers scrambled to find shelter for thousands of small pets and large animals alike.Evacuation centers for animals at Hansen Dam in Lake View Terrace and Pierce College in Woodland Hills quickly filled up after opening Friday. Another center was available at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds at 2551 W. MESA, Ariz. -- An Arizona "Dreamer," business owner and soon-to-be father was detained by ICE agents after serving time for a DUI charge in Mesa. His pregnant wife is due any day now and is hoping an online petition will help convince a judge to let her husband out on bond so he can see the birth of their daughter.Justine Dachel and Misael Trujillo met at Jewel's Bakery and Cafe in Phoenix, which they now own and run together. They got married in December."Our restaurant would fail if he wasn't able to be here," said Dachel.Trujillo is a "Dreamer." His parents brought him to the United States when he was a child, and until recently, he was a DACA recipient protected from deportation. The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival program allows undocumented immigrants brought as children to live and work in the U.S.In 2018, Mesa police reports show Trujillo was charged with "DUI- impaired in the slightest degree" for marijuana. Trujillo tried to fight the charge for more than a year and finally took a plea deal, thinking he'd be able to choose a jail in California and avoid deportation. However, because of COVID-19 restrictions, Trujillo had to serve in Mesa, and ICE agents were notified. He was taken into custody on June 29.According to an ICE spokesperson, Trujillo remains in ICE custody while he awaits a hearing with an immigration judge with the Department of Justice’s Executive Office for Immigration Review.The spokesperson also gave KNXV this statement for background on the process:"ICE lodges detainers on individuals who have been arrested on criminal charges and who ICE has probable cause to believe are removable aliens. The detainer asks the other law enforcement agency to notify ICE in advance of release and to maintain custody of the alien for a brief period of time so that ICE can take custody of that person in a safe and secure setting upon release from that agency’s custody."Dachel said Trujillo was sober when he was driving, but blood tests showed he had traces of marijuana in his system. Still, she said that shouldn't be enough to remove someone from the only home they've ever known."Yes, pay the fines, do the community service, do the work they need to do, but if they are not a harm to society, and they make a mistake--we all make mistakes," said Dachel. "It's just not fair."Dachel is an American citizen. She is 39 weeks pregnant with their baby girl they've named Beni."Because of corona, he's actually the only one allowed in the room with me. So if he doesn't come home, then I'll be by myself," she said.Ezequiel Hernandez is an immigration attorney in Phoenix. He's not representing Trujillo. He said Trujillo will have to go through the deportation proceedings, and the first step will be to get him out on bond. He said a judge will take several factors into consideration."The fact that he's been here for 20 years, the fact that he's married to a U.S. citizen, the fact that he's about to have a baby, the fact that it has been his only crime, the fact that he has a business, he was in the DACA program. He has a lot of equities, but that one single issue puts him as a priority because of this administration's priorities, he is a criminal alien and has to go through this process," explained Hernandez.Hernandez said the current administration is a lot tougher when it comes to bonds and people who've been convicted."They have hardened since the Obama administration to now....where most of the judges will not issue a bond with a DUI, in my opinion," said Hernandez.Because of COVID-19, Hernandez said many hearings have been suspended, so it's unclear when Trujillo will have his bond hearing.Dachel said she just wants him at her daughter's birth. She started a petition on change.org in support of her husband. As of Friday evening, it had nearly 15,000 signatures."Kind of just tell the judge how many people, how much he's needed in this community, and how many know and love him and how wrong this is that this is happening to us," said Dachel.Dachel said her doctors will wait as late as next Friday to induce her, but she could have her baby any day due to complications she's been having."I know how much he wants to be there, but he just said that I need to do whatever is good for her," said Dachel about her daughter's birth.Hernandez said bond or no bond, it will be a costly and timely fight to get Trujillo legal status, and it's very likely he'll have to leave to Mexico during the proceedings."This is another reminder of why the immigration system has to be reformed, and particularly the DACA population-- obviously they're very fragile in terms of what they could go through, and this is one of those situations," said Hernandez.This story was originally published by Claudia Rupcich at KNXV. 4788

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A billboard calling for justice in the Breonna Taylor case was vandalized with red paint in Louisville..The public discovered the vandalism to the sign near the city’s Irish Hill neighborhood Tuesday morning, WLKY and WAVE report.However, by Tuesday afternoon, both TV stations say the paint had either been removed from the billboard or it had been replaced.The billboard is one of several erected in the Kentucky city by Oprah Winfrey and her magazine, which featured Taylor on its September issue. She was the first person other than Oprah herself to grace the cover.The signs feature a photo of the 26-year-old woman who was shot and killed by police in her home in March. They also have a call to action – “Demand that the police involved in killing Breonna Taylor be arrested and charged” – and encourage people to visit the website for Until Freedom, a social justice organization created to address systemic and racial injustice.Taylor died on March 13 after three Louisville police officers executing a search warrant used a battering ram to enter her home. The emergency room technician and her boyfriend were in bed. After a brief exchange, Taylor’s boyfriend reportedly fired his gun and then police fired shots, striking Taylor at least eight times. She died in the apartment hallway.Since Taylor’s death, protests have been held across the country, demanding that the officers involved be charged in her killing. Many celebrities other than Oprah have also used their platforms to call for action.For now, the shooting is under investigation by the FBI and Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron.
